Cardinal Health, a global provider of products and services that improve the safety and productivity of health care, today announced a three-year agreement to offer its medical-surgical, pharmaceutical and laboratory supplies to the more than 5,400 cardiologists served by MedAxiom, a service provider and networking resource serving academic, hospital and physician-owned cardiology practices.

The agreement, which was effective Feb. 1, further extends the companies’ existing relationship, which began in 2004 when Cardinal Health became the sole-source provider for MedAxiom’s Group Purchasing Organization for radiopharmaceutical imaging agents that aid in the early diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. By providing them access to a full range of medical-surgical, pharmaceutical and laboratory products, Cardinal Health can provide MedAxiom’s members with a one-stop solution for their most critical supply needs.

“This agreement is a natural extension that allows Cardinal Health to offer more value to MedAxiom members and tailor our offerings to cardiologists’ specific needs,” said Kenny Wilson, senior vice president and general manager of Cardinal Health’s Ambulatory Care business.

With the new agreement, MedAxiom members have access to all of Cardinal Health’s medical-surgical, pharmaceutical and laboratory products. Cardinal Health will also contribute to MedAxiom’s MedXpert Knowledgebase, an on-demand warehouse of educational materials, informational articles, pro forma analyses, and policies and procedures that help members optimize their practice efficiency and patient care.

“Cardinal Health and MedAxiom have had a strong relationship over the past several years as Cardinal Health has provided the MedAxiom membership with excellent value and service for their radiopharmaceuticals,” commented Chris Romeo, MedAxiom’s vice president of corporate relations.  “We are excited about the expansion of our relationship with Cardinal Health and its Ambulatory Care business in helping to meet the needs of our growing membership.”
