Elekta collaborates with Palabra to offer the industry’s only voice-enabled HER

Elekta announced that it is collaborating with Palabra, allowing one-of-a-kind speech integration and automation capabilities to be seamlessly integrated into Elekta’s MOSAIQ® Oncology Information System. The integrated system has been installed in sites in North America and Australia.

“Before Palabra, I routinely found myself reviewing transcribed notes two days after I had seen a patient. Integrating Palabra into MOSAIQ allows me to complete my notes and transmit them to the referring physician 15 minutes after the patient leaves my office, when the interaction is still fresh,” said Dr. David Vonk at Arizona Oncology in Tucson. “I believe that Palabra enables me to provide my patients with better care on several fronts, including optimizing the accuracy of patient charts, allowing more effective communication with referring physicians and giving me back time in my day that I can devote to patients rather than paperwork.”

When paired with Palabra, which can now be purchased from Elekta as an additional enhancement, MOSAIQ becomes a voice-enabled electronic health records (EHR) system. Palabra utilizes advanced speech recognition and automation technology to expedite real-world clinical operations needed for accurate and complete patient records. Palabra empowers MOSAIQ users to navigate using voice commands to create documents that can be dictated, approved and transmitted within minutes of seeing the patient. These capabilities reduce the amount of time needed for data entry and other clinical tasks. Palabra users are currently creating 50,000 documents per month and each of them routinely saves more than 125 hours of work per year.

“Palabra serves as an ideal complement to MOSAIQ,” said Palabra’s Co-Founder and Technology Chief Wade Hatler, who worked for Elekta as an architect and director of Systems Architecture for over 20 years. “The tight, seamless and flexible integration of Palabra greatly enhances efficiency by producing high-quality notes without contributing to physician burnout.”

“MOSAIQ offers the highest level of customization and automation to improve safety, efficiency and quality. Elekta, as an industry leader, works hand-in-hand with our customers to make sure that customers get the best solution for their clinic,” said Ranjit Pradhan, Senior Vice President, Oncology Informatics, Elekta. “Knocking down barriers to information sharing improves the narrative across the patient’s pathway, ultimately enhancing overall care.”
