GE Healthcare is proud to announce SIGNA™ Premier, a new wide bore 3.0T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system, is now available for sale in Canada. SIGNA Premier is the result of a four-year collaboration with the National Football League (NFL) and research institutions around the world working to design new imaging tools, particularly to aid researchers in the detection of biomarkers for the potential diagnosis of mild Traumatic Brain Injury. SIGNA Premier delivers a new level of clinical performance with additional research-focused capabilities, especially for neurology and oncology research.
“We’re excited to be the first in Canada to bring this premium wide-bore 3T technology to our patients,” said Dr. Gallix, chair of Diagnostic Radiology at McGill University Health Centre in Montreal, Quebec. “We look forward to using this cutting-edge imaging technology to advance our practice and to help us in our goal to deliver great care to our patients.”
“We are thrilled to bring SIGNA Premier to clinicians,” said Eric Stahre, president and CEO of GE Healthcare MRI. “We believe that its advanced applications and breakthrough innovations will deliver research-focused clinical capabilities and wide-bore patient comfort. This new system will help clinicians push the boundaries of what’s possible with MR.”
SIGNA Premier features: GE Healthcare’s latest, short-bore, high-homogeneity 3.0T superconductive magnet; the most powerful gradient system GE Healthcare has ever developed for a wide bore 3.0T system; and a new, digital RF transmit and receive architecture. Clinical and research applications benefit from this high-performance hardware as well as machine learning software that includes cloud analytics. SIGNA Premier is powered by the innovative SuperG gradient technology. The SuperG gradient coil introduces outstanding performance and superb stability, which is designed to deliver the performance of ultra-high-performance, research-class 60 centimeter MRI system in a 70 centimeter bore.

The RF technology of SIGNA Premier provides 146 independent receiver channels that allow the simultaneous acquisition of patient data from multiple high channel-density surface coils for faster scanning, higher image quality, and overall enhanced clinical performance*.
Additionally, SIGNA Premier can perform a routine fast brain examination in under five minutes by leveraging HyperSense, a new speed scanning tool, delivering up to eight times faster scanning*, which is part of the HyperWorks application suite.
SIGNA Premier is the most recent addition to GE Healthcare’s MRI portfolio, including SIGNA Architect, a 3.0T MRI system, and SIGNA Artist, a 1.5T system, both premium wide bore scanners designed to increase productivity and improve diagnostic confidence for clinicians. These new MRI systems feature the new SIGNAWorks applications portfolio and the SIGNAWorks Innovation application suite delivering beyond the standard productivity and clinical capabilities. The Architect and Artist are supported by both an advanced 96channel and 128channel RF architectures and cutting-edge applications.
