NDS Surgical Imaging Adds Two Executive Officers to Leadership Team and Appoints Surgical and Radiology Business Unit Leaders

NDS Surgical Imaging (NDSsi) announced changes in its management organization to provide additional structure as the Company experiences continued growth and performance within its corporate and product business units. Dr. Jeff Zhou has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer from his most current role of Vice President, Global Engineering and General Manager/APAC. Additionally, Sam Brown is new to NDSsi and takes on the role of Chief Financial Officer. NDSsi also announced key personnel moves, including the appointment of Jens Ruppert to Vice President/General Manager of the Surgical Business Unit and Peter Steven to Vice President/General Manager of the Radiology Business Unit.

In his new role at NDSsi, Dr. Zhou will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company, including marketing, sales, operations, surgical and radiology business units, and global sales operations for the EMEA and APAC regional offices. Dr. Zhou will ensure that NDSsi’s operations are continuing to support the advancement and future growth of the Company.  Mr. Brown is a recent addition to the NDSsi team, taking on the role of Chief Financial Officer. In this position, Mr. Brown leads all areas of finance, accounting, legal, human resources, and IT.  With over twenty years of industry experience, Mr. Brown most recently served as the Vice President of Finance at NVIDIA Corporation where he was responsible for all worldwide finance and accounting functions.

“With these new leadership team appointments, we believe that we have the best team in place to position NDSsi for continued momentum and growth within our industry for all facets of our business,” stated John Murphy, President and CEO of NDSsi. “The additions and promotions that we are announcing today emphasize the depth and quality of talent that we have at NDSsi. I am excited to be working with this team and about the future of our Company.”

DSsi continued to expand product offerings in 2008 and 2009 with the acquisition of Dome and ZeroWire and the growing popularity of the Radiance line of surgical displays. Forming two separate business units to address the distinct product segments for the surgical and radiology markets will allow NDSsi to continue to focus its resources on the unique needs of these markets and to drive innovation that improves patient outcomes.

Mr. Ruppert has been with NDSsi for four years, holding sales and product management positions. In his new role as Vice President/General Manager of the Surgical Business Unit, Mr. Ruppert will oversee all surgical engineering, marketing and product management for visualization systems, informatics and wireless products. Dr. Steven becomes the Vice President/General Manager of the Radiology Business Unit where he will oversee product management, engineering and marketing of the Dome product line. Dr. Steven was previously co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of DOME and helped design and develop the first medical imaging LCD display as well as novel display controllers for medical imaging.

“Over the last year, NDSsi made great strides in expanding our product portfolio on the surgical side of the business to prove how committed we are to technology excellence and delivering it globally to the surgical marketplace,” continued Murphy. “Jens Ruppert did a tremendous job with his leadership in product management, so it was a natural progression to his new role in leading the surgical business unit. With the addition of Peter Steven heading up our radiology business unit, we have a strong leader who was one of the original Dome co-founders that has the knowledge and expertise to bring new radiology innovations to life.”
