Sunrise Labs partnered with H&T Presspart to develop an electronic metered dose inhaler to improve adherence and enhance patient monitoring.
Sunrise Labs Inc., an ISO-13485 certified product development firm, partnered with H&T Presspart, a manufacturer for the drug delivery industry, to develop an electronic metered dose inhaler to improve adherence and enhance monitoring of patients with asthma and COPD.
Sunrise worked closely with H&T Presspart to create a design to meet their need for a miniaturized PCB, with very low power consumption, a robust integrated enclosure design, and connectivity to a smartphone. The new product is marketed under the brand name eMDI™. Its design features an FDA approved mechanical dose counter, with added electronics and bluetooth radios that communicate the device’s data to an app, “BreatheSmart,” developed by Cohero Health.

Sunrise was selected for this project based on its extensive knowledge of cybersecurity protocols, bluetooth /wireless technology, battery and power management, and sensor integration, along with deep experience developing FDA regulated medical devices and consumables.
