In recognition of its performance on patient safety, quality of care, financial stability, operational efficiency and patient satisfaction measures, Advocate Aurora Health has once again been named to the 100 Top Hospitals list by IBM Watson Health™, formerly known as the Truven Health Analytics® 100 Top Hospitals.

Three hospitals in the Advocate Aurora system – Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, Ill., Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Ill., and Aurora Medical Center in Manitowoc County, Wis. were among only ten Illinois and Wisconsin hospitals that achieved the recognition.

Advocate Illinois Masonic was one of only two Chicago area Major Teaching Hospitals to make the list, Advocate Sherman was one of two Large Community Hospitals honored from Illinois while Aurora Medical Center in Manitowoc County was one of only two Small Community Hospitals named from Wisconsin. Advocate Sherman Hospital was also honored with the Everest Award, which distinguishes hospitals that have achieved both the highest current performance and the fastest long-term improvement over five years.

“This honor reflects the dedication of our physicians, nurses and team members to delivering the highest quality care in the safest possible environment,” said Jim Skogsbergh, president and chief executive officer of Advocate Aurora Health. “Their unwavering commitment to making our communities healthier and helping people live well combined with our laser focus on safety, health outcomes, consumer experience and cost is what makes Advocate Aurora Health one of the strongest health care organizations in the country.”

To make IBM Watson Health’s elite group, hospitals must not only provide the best possible care for patients, they must also demonstrate excellence as an efficiently run business. IBM Watson Health considers the Top 100 as shining examples for others to follow.

The Advocate Aurora sites were chosen from 3,156 eligible U.S. hospitals. Key performance benchmarks for award winners included survival rates, readmission rates and shorter length of stay, among others.
