The health information exchange said Verato’s cloud service links patient records across otherwise disparate data sources to help clinicians better coordinate care and treatment.
Healthix, a health information exchange (HIE), on Thursday said it has selected Verato, a provider of patient matching applications, to improve accuracy and efficiency in identifying and linking patient records across its platform.
Verato’s cloud-based platform links patient identities across disparate databases or organizations. Healthix provides secure access to clinical data of more than 16 million patients, with their consent, for treatment, care coordination and quality improvement.
Healthix delivers health information to hundreds of participating organizations that span nearly 1,400 facilities across New York City and Long Island. The company enables clinicians to view their patient’s composite record, receive notifications when an important event happens and support population health management.
Given the size and diversity of Healthix participating organizations, from large complex health systems to single provider practices, adopting best practices for linking patient records across the HIE is fundamental. Healthix will leverage Verato’s big-data approach to supplement their current patient-matching functionality and improve its patient matching.
“Our mission is to help our participants provide better care by facilitating the secure exchange of information between them,” Thomas Check, President and CEO of Healthix, said in a statement. The Verato solution will further enhance our efforts to achieve real-time high-accuracy matching of patient identities in cases where it is especially difficult.”
Verato said it will process millions of Healthix’s most difficult match decisions, a process that now requires time-consuming manual review. After a competitive test with other technologies, Healthix said it selected Verato as a partner because of the quality of match results it provided, its ability to provide substantiated data for its match decisions, its real-time capabilities, and its proven expertise in healthcare and matching technology.
“Patient matching is at the core of major improvements needed in the quality of care and economy of care in healthcare, both of which depend on the free flow of patient information between providers,” Mark LaRow, CEO of Verato, said in a statement.
