David Whitlinger, Continua Health Alliance President, I'm proud to welcome the first Continua Certified product to the global marketplace from industry leader and Continua Promoter member Nonin Medical, Inc. Nonin Medical's engineers have worked diligently with other telehealth leaders in the alliance to produce the Continua Version One Guidelines, with the goal of building Continua's vision for interoperable and personal healthcare

Dr. Joseph Kvedar, Founder and Director of the Center for Connected Health, Boston. Information exchange and interoperability promise to deliver enormous benefits to healthcare systems and telemedicine programs – patients will have better information about their health status and clinicians will have the ability to monitor vital signs with much greater ease. "Based on our experience, we believe patients will appreciate these broadened options to help them manage their health, and the healthcare system will save money having an entire ecosystem of products that work together.

Nonin has been a key contributor in the architecture of interoperable standards, including ISO/IEEE 11073, USB Personal Healthcare Device Class (PHDC) and Bluetooth® Health Device Profile (HDP) – all part of the Continua Alliance Certification requirements.
