The Board of Directors of Accordia Global Health Foundation voted unanimously to appoint David Greeley as its new President and CEO. David brings with him more than 30 years of experience working for international development and health non-profit organizations and for the pharmaceutical company Merck & Co. Inc.
"We are excited to welcome David to Accordia," said Dr. Warner C. Greene, Executive Chair of Accordia. "His impressive and vast experience in forging public-private partnerships in global development and health, combined with his proven leadership skills, is what we need to further support our partners on the ground in Africa and to take Accordia to the next level," added Greene.
Mr. Greeley has traveled to 90 countries and worked for extensive periods in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the United States. He has health expertise in HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria, family planning, and maternal and child health, as well as experience in public affairs, communications, policy/advocacy, resource mobilization, and program management. Immediately prior to joining Accordia, David served as Senior Vice President of External Affairs for the Global Alliance for TB Drug Development, a product development partnership working to bring new treatments to market for tuberculosis. Before the TB Alliance, he worked in roles of increasing responsibility with leading companies and organizations such as Merck, FHI 360, Population Services International, and CARE.
"Improving health outcomes in the developing world, and especially Africa, has always been one of my biggest passions. Accordia Global Health Foundation has made a large and lasting impact on health in Africa through the creation of the Infectious Diseases Institute in Uganda. I look forward to leading Accordia and working with its many partners to help expand the organization's program portfolio and impact," said Greeley.
Greeley, who served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in West Africa in the early 1980s, has a Masters Degree in International Relations from Columbia University with a dual degree in Economic and Political Development and African Affairs.
Accordia Global Health Foundation is a Washington D.C. based non-profit that works in partnership with individuals, corporations, foundations, NGOs, and governments from around the world to address pressing health concerns in Africa by creating innovative health models, building and supporting centers of excellence, and strengthening medical institutions.
