Haemonetics is set to supply CSL Plasma with its latest plasma collection technology under a new non-exclusive U.S. agreement, bringing the companies back together after their previous supply contract ended in mid-2022. CSL is expected to begin transitioning some of its U.S. plasma collection centers to Haemoneticsโ€™ NexSys PCS platforms and disposable apheresis kits. The agreement follows the U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance of NexSys PCS with Persona Plus technology earlier this year.

Under the new arrangement, CSL can use Haemoneticsโ€™ NexSys PCS devices and purchase related disposables for plasma collection at U.S. centers. The agreement does not include minimum purchase requirements, while the scope and timing of deliveries have yet to be finalized. Haemonetics previously supplied CSLโ€™s U.S. plasma operations with its PCS2 collection systems, generating about $117 million in revenue during fiscal 2020. That represented nearly one-eighth of Haemoneticsโ€™ total business at the time before the contract expired in mid-2022 and was not renewed.

In the period since, CSL adopted Terumoโ€™s automated Rika plasma collection systems across its U.S. network of more than 300 donation centers, completing the rollout in mid-2025. Haemonetics, meanwhile, retained its European plasma business with CSL as well as its U.S. software accounts. The companyโ€™s NexSys PCS system received FDA clearance in February 2026 for Persona Plus technology, which is designed to personalize plasma collection for individual donors and, according to Haemonetics, can deliver mid-single-digit improvements in plasma volume at a lower cost-per-liter. The new US Plasma Collection Deal therefore marks a renewed equipment relationship between the two companies while leaving the timing and scale of CSLโ€™s transition to NexSys PCS to be determined.

Haemonetics reported $339 million in total revenue for the first quarter of its 2027 fiscal year, which ended in June, representing a 5.6% increase from the same period a year earlier. Its plasma business contributed $155 million during the quarter. The company said it plans to provide an update on the CSL agreement during its next quarterly earnings call in November and has not made changes to its financial guidance. The American Red Cross also declared an emergency blood shortage in July after the national supply fell about 25% in June, affecting stocks of type O and B- blood as well as AB plasma.
