Welch Allyn, a leading global manufacturer of frontline medical products and solutions, recently announced a new promotion that offers select Welch Allyn products to physicians for free with the completion of an online “test drive” and purchase of a new Green Series™ Medical Exam Light. The promotion, available only in the U.S., runs from May 1, 2010 through June 30, 2010 and will be offered on-site to attendees of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) exposition later this month.
To qualify, physicians must first complete a five-minute “test drive” of the Green Series Medical Exam Lights on a dedicated website. The site lets caregivers compare visualizations of various exam areas and highlights cost savings associated with the reduction in energy consumption and the elimination of bulb replacement by using LED versus halogen lights. It also highlights the features and benefits associated with the full product line and allows visitors to preview their choices of free products they’ll receive when they buy one or more of the lights, including a mobile stand, cordless illumination system with vaginal specula, MacroView™ otoscope, SureTemp® thermometer, or a laryngoscope handle and blade, among others.

The white LEDs used in the Welch Allyn Green Series Medical Exam Lights provide truer tissue color rendition, a uniform spot—no dark or hot spots—and minimal heat dissipation for greater patient comfort and safety. The touchless on/off and intensity control features reduce the risk of cross-contamination, and the ergonomic design simplifies cleaning. They are among the first medical exam lights offered domestically that feature energy-efficient light-emitting diodes (LEDs), as opposed to halogen lamps. The new lights do not require bulb replacement and produce bright, white light with a color temperature of 5,500ºK, providing a superior light that offers industry-leading lumen performance.
