TomoTherapy Incorporated, maker of advanced radiation therapy solutions for the treatment of cancer and other diseases, today announced a new feature for its TomoTherapy® radiation therapy treatment system that provides dosimetrists, physicists and physicians the ability to develop and approve treatment plans from virtually anywhere in the world. The new Remote Planning solution extends the full TomoTherapy Planning Station functionality to any Web-connected computer, giving cancer centers a competitive advantage for attracting and retaining specialists and greater flexibility to balance staff across multiple locations.

TomoTherapy will demonstrate the Remote Planning solution at Booth 10 in the exhibit hall at the ESTRO Anniversary Congress in London, May 8-12, 2011. Remote Planning gives users full TomoTherapy treatment planning capabilities from virtually any remote location, without impacting the ability of others to continue using the TomoTherapy Planning Stations installed within the cancer center’s TomoTherapy Network System. The feature can be accessed from remote locations via encrypted SSL connection, enterprise Citrix connection, VPN or other secure network access connection, which helps ensure security and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
