The London Clinic, a private hospital and charity on London’s Harley Street, is the first private hospital in the UK to launch a specialist robotics centre, called The London Clinic Centre for Robotics. It has been created to support consultants to deliver the best possible surgical outcomes for patients in varied specialty areas such as urology, orthopaedics, gastrointestinal, colorectal, ENT and gynaecology.
The key aims for The London Clinic Centre for Robotics are:
- Deliver precision, high quality surgery for patients
- Use a multi-disciplinary approach
- Commission new technologies
- Share outcomes within the wider healthcare community
- Train the next generation of robotic surgeons
- Encourage internal audit and good clinical governance
The London Clinic was the first private hospital in the UK to trial and offer robotic surgery to patients with prostate cancer using the da Vinci® Surgical System in 2005. Last year (2018), The London Clinic added a second robot – the NAVIO® – for precision knee surgery.
