Mongoose’s HealthView medical search engine for patient data, currently in use by the NHS, has been named a ‘Cool Vendor’ by world leading IT research and advisory firm Gartner.
HealthView, the only UK provider listed by the report, was recommended for implementation in healthcare organisations worldwide as an innovative way to augment document imaging, data repository and health information exchange.

In the annual Cool Vendors in Healthcare Providers Report, which singles out exceptional technological innovations in healthcare, HealthView was praised as “an intelligent medical search engine that can help transform the way patient data can be accessed and used”.

HealthView is specifically designed for acute NHS Trusts and is aligned with the objectives of the Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention (QIPP) agenda and the Nicholson review of innovation in the NHS, which sets out the target of achieving £20 billion of efficiency savings by 2015.

The productivity and cost-efficiency of HealthView was identified as a key factor for the inclusion of the search engine in the report, which highlighted that:
·         “HealthView has demonstrated its ability to search, organise and present information from many different data sources, quickly and at low cost
·         For one customer, HealthView processed, categorised and integrated 90,000 cardiology documents in four days; another vendor had failed to complete the project during the previous six months”

HealthView is designed to enhance and complement (but not replace) any existing medical records systems, enabling the efficient indexing of all types of scanned content as well as other patient information held in multiple hospital systems and across multiple sites.
Using unique and proven methods to categorise documents, HealthView organises and consolidates all records held on an individual patient for searching and viewing through a single, secure web-based access point, fixed or mobile.
The application can be accessed and used effectively on PCs, tablets and mobiles.

Mr Paul Curley, Clinical Director of Information Technology and Consultant Surgeon at Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust, comments: “The true value of HealthView is its ability to unlock hard to find data, add richness to the clinical record and thus realise the full potential of electronic records.
"Like a number of other NHS Trusts, we have scanned our library of medical records to make them available digitally, and we are excited about the potential functionality a powerful search tool like Healthview offers.
"By searching the printed content within or across medical records, new opportunities are opened up for us to identify important information in seconds such as implant types from stickers on operation notes, allergy status and medication histories.
"The technology represents great promise for enhancing individual patient care, as well as for auditing and research purposes. I believe HealthView will prove invaluable in converting unstructured data in a scanned record into a largely searchable resource.”
Matthew Gittoes, Managing Director of Mongoose comments: "We are delighted to be recommended by such an influential voice in our industry. This global recognition is representative of the customer feedback we’re receiving as we use our specialist search engine expertise to solve vast and complex information retrieval issues with our intelligent, nimble approach. We will continue to work closely with our clients to improve HealthView and look forward to widening our client base as the clinical, cost and research benefits become widely recognised."
