Healthcare News:- Cardiologists at Southampton General Hospital in the UK have become the first in Europe to use a new "slinky" coil during an angioplasty procedure.

The Resolute Integrity Stent System is more flexible than other stents and has been designed to reach into narrow or difficult blood vessels.

Its bendy design also ensures that it conforms to the shape of the artery, rather than remaining rigid.

Dr Iain Simpson, who performed the procedure, said that the new stent was more flexible for getting around twisty arteries, and gave them another option for treating patients who have coronary heart disease or have had a heart attack.
