MedTorque, Inc., a leading manufacturer of silicone handle instruments for the orthopedics industry, announced today the European launch of their TRI-GEAR™ silicone handle ratchets for use in orthopedic and spine surgeries. The products recently received CE Mark approval, allowing the company to begin marketing and selling MedTorque® TRI-GEAR™ ratchets in Europe and other countries that require the CE Mark.

"In light of the overwhelmingly positive response we've gotten from our OEM customers and surgeon users in the United States, we very are excited to introduce our TRI-GEAR™ products in the European market," said Steve Sundberg, President and CEO of MedTorque. "We look forward to offering this innovative product line along with our high standards of performance and customer satisfaction to European customers and surgeons."

The patent pending TRI-GEAR™ technology utilizes three gears with 20 interlocking teeth that allow for both forward and reverse functionality. Traditional ratcheting instruments currently used in orthopedics utilize a standard, two-pawl design, with just one or two teeth engaged for each direction. Many of the components in the TRI-GEAR™ ratchets have been standardized to be used across various styles and sizes making stocking components easier, lowering production costs and allowing for fast assembly and significantly reduced lead times. MedTorque's TRI-GEAR™ ratchets are available in axial/in-line, t-handle and palm styles and can be customized with color, logos and artwork.

"Receiving the CE Mark and launching our flagship product, TRI-GEAR™, in Europe is a significant milestone for MedTorque and another step in our continued investment in the medical device industry," said Sundberg.
