How To Handle The Mental Trauma After An Accident

How To Handle The Mental Trauma After An Accident

No one can prepare themselves for everything. When you go about your day, things happen and you have to react as best as possible. An accident can be dangerous for both your physical and mental health. Getting severely injured in a car accident, for example, might cause you to need surgery or extensive therapy sessions after the incident. The pain and recovery will keep you busy and the life changes due to injury could play a major role in your mental state. As a result, you need to find ways to handle the mental trauma after an accident.

1. What is Mental Trauma?

Mental trauma is defined as “damage or severe distress to the mind caused by a deeply disturbing experience.” You can develop this kind of damage by experiencing or seeing something too intense for your mind to handle. This could be a car accident with a lot of injuries, violence or abuse, the death of a loved one, and more. Victims of these events have been known to feel depressed, anxious, and out of control at times after their mental trauma takes hold. In short, if you experience an event that your mind can’t handle, you could become mentally traumatized.

2. Consider Therapy

Getting mental trauma help is different for everyone. Finding a therapist you like and engaging in the proper sessions could be one of your best options. You can talk with this person about how you feel after the accident, and how to cope with future situations that make you feel unsafe or uncomfortable.

The point of going to therapy is to get yourself to a place where you can feel safe and in control again. Sometimes, doing something about what happened can help with that. If you were in a car crash, think about finding a firm that specializes in that. The experts at Davis car accident attorney say that it’s important to find someone with experience in these things so that you can make sure you receive the help and compensation you need and deserve. Healing will take time, but you should find some comfort knowing that it is possible.

Make sure you’re open with yourself about what you’re experiencing. If you feel like you can’t handle your emotions or the way they affect your life, it’s time to consider therapy as a good option for healing and recovery.

3. Find Ways To Relax

When you find yourself in a dark place because of mental trauma, finding ways to relax is essential. Both your body and mind will need time to heal after an accident. This means that you should avoid things that stress you out, including arguments with friends, accident family, watching violence on television, and more.

Some of the best ways to relax are simple activities like listening to music, meditating, or taking a walk outside. Some people respond well to breathing exercises, which are also beneficial for relaxation. Whatever you find helps you calm down, make sure it’s part of your post-accident routine.

These might not seem like enough to take your mind off of the pain and discomfort, but they will help you relax and stay grounded in a world that could feel too big for you right now.

4. Seek Out A Hobby

Hobbies are a great way to pass the time when you’re feeling overwhelmed after an accident. They’ll take your mind off of the pain and fear that you’re experiencing, and give you something to focus on when you don’t want to think about what happened.

Some good hobbies include writing (journaling in particular), creative arts like drawing or painting, reading books, cooking, or playing an instrument. Just make sure when you find a hobby to take your mind off of the accident, you do it in moderation. You don’t want it to make you feel worse, which can happen if you spend too much time doing things that hurt your mental health.

It’s all about finding something that helps without hurting, so pay attention to how you’re feeling after you try different things. If you don’t like it, it’s okay to move on and find something else that helps you relax without making your mental health worse.

When you’re trying to heal after an accident, it can be easy to feel alone in your struggles. Not everyone around you will understand what you’re going through, and that can make it even harder to handle. Remember that the people around you love you no matter what has happened. Make sure you check in with your loved ones to let them know how they can help, and how they can support you as you recover.

There’s no right or wrong way to heal. You might never get back what was lost, but you can find ways to recover and be happy again. Being patient with yourself is difficult, but it will make recovery faster in the end. The only thing that matters is that you’re trying, and know that things will get better.

The Importance of Obtaining Vitamin D on a Daily Basis

The Importance of Obtaining Vitamin D on a Daily Basis

Getting the right balance of vitamins and minerals every day can be a challenge, but it’s essential for our health and wellbeing. In particular, Vitamin D plays an important role in several bodily functions. But what is it good for and why is it important to get enough of this crucial vitamin every day? In this blog, we’ll outline why Vitamin D is so beneficial to our health and the roles it plays in the body.

Why is Vitamin D so important?

Also known as the sunshine vitamin, Vitamin D is a fat-soluble nutrient that actually comes in two forms – D2 and D3. The former comes primarily from plants, while D3 is produced by the skin when it’s exposed to sunlight. It’s also found in several food sources too. Vitamin D contributes to our health in a number of ways.

Firstly, as the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) explains, Vitamin D supports normal calcium absorption which is essential for bone health, as well as aiding nerve function and maintaining healthy blood pressure.

Vitamin D is also important for our muscle function, particularly as we age when muscle function can deteriorate. This vitamin is also beneficial for our natural defences, supporting our immune system and helping the body to prevent viruses.

How do I get enough Vitamin D every day?

Vitamin D can be produced by spending time in the sun, and our bodies are capable of producing the majority of what we need in terms of Vitamin D3. The NHS suggests that as little as 20 to 30 minutes can be enough time to get what you need. However, sitting in the sun comes with its own risks of skin damage, so doing so safely is key. There’s also the fact that the sun in the UK isn’t always strong enough to trigger the process of converting UV rays to Vitamin D3.

To ensure you are getting enough of the vitamin each day, some people choose to safeguard their intake through vitamin D tablets. This is a great option for people who live in areas that don’t receive a lot of sunlight or who are wary of sitting in the sun for too long.

Vitamin D2 and D3 can also be sourced from food, albeit in smaller quantities. Oily fish, egg yolks, butter, liver and red meat are great sources of D3, which means that vegans and vegetarians can struggle to get enough of this form of Vitamin D from their diet, while D2 is found in plant sources such as mushrooms. There’s also the option of fortified foods like bread or cereals which often have nutrients like this added to the ingredients.

Final thoughts

Getting the right amount of Vitamin D every day is essential for several areas of our health to avoid deficiency, but it’s important to do so safely. Supplements are a good way to safeguard this and ensure that you’re not relying on the sun or your diet to get the right quantity of this vitamin.

MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND to cancel 2022 edition in Bangkok

New dates for MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND with move to 2022

MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND will not be staged next year as planned and will return from 13 – 15 Sep 2023. Focus shifts to MEDICAL FAIR ASIA and MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA, to be co-located at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, from 31 Aug – 2 Sep 2022.

The   on-going   ban   on   large   scale events   in   Bangkok,   which   is   still   marked   a   dark   red   zone   in   Thailand, coupled   with   varied   quarantine   requirements   for   returning   international travellers,   has   made   it   extremely   challenging   for   stakeholders   to   plan their   participation   with   confidence   and   certainty.   Given   that   it   is impossible to predict how the situation will develop in the coming months despite falling COVID-19 cases in Thailand and ramped up vaccination efforts, cancelling the 2022 edition of MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND rather than rescheduling the exhibition was the most feasible option due to the staging of MEDICAL FAIR ASIA and MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA in Singapore.

Mr Gernot Ringling, Managing   Director,   Messe   Dusseldorf   Asia, commented: “Considering the time frame, with a little over four months to the   exhibition,   international   exhibitors   will   need   to   start   making preparations now. 90 percent of exhibitors come from abroad, while on the visitor front more than 40 percent, thus with this in mind and to avoid potential economic and health risks, we felt it was in the best interest of all   participants   involved   to   move   MEDICAL   FAIR   THAILAND   to   2023.

However, we will continue our efforts to offer our exhibitors and visitors a business platform and gateway to Southeast Asia that is highly effective and tailored to all our current needs, and focus on a stronger showcase and   enhanced   edition   of   MEDICAL   FAIR   ASIA   in   2022   which   will   co-locate with MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA, to be held in Singapore.”

“We believe that with this announcement ahead of time, it will benefit all attendees and pave the way for better planning and stronger participation at MEDICAL FAIR ASIA 2022, as the world transits to the endemic stage of COVID-19 by Q3 2022,” Mr Ringling added MEDICAL FAIR ASIA 2022 will continue to present both a physical and online   edition   of   the   exhibition   thus   ensuring  event   security   as   well   as extensive participation opportunities for all involved.

Ms   Daphne   Yeo,   Senior   Project   Manager,   medical   and   healthcare portfolio   at   Messe   Dusseldorf   Asia,   stated:   “The   decision   to   cancel MEDICAL   FAIR   THAILAND   2022   was   a   difficult   one,   and   required   a careful and open dialogue  with industry partners, representative offices and exhibitors. Fortunately, we have been able to make our decisions in agreement and are very thankful for the encouragement and support from all   involved.   We   look   forward   to   welcoming   the   global   medical   and healthcare   community  to  MEDICAL   FAIR   ASIA   in   Singapore   next   year against   a   backdrop   of   greater   market   confidence   and   optimistic   travel conditions,   to   deliver   customer   expectations   and   performance   success with a highly relevant, innovative and future-ready trade fair.”

Both   MEDICAL   FAIR   THAILAND   and   MEDICAL   FAIR   ASIA   are   the region’s leading medical and healthcare exhibitions and industry sourcing platforms.   Its   targeted   exhibitor   and   visitor   portfolio,   international representation, and importance have helped position the trade fairs as a firm annual fixture, alternating between Singapore and Bangkok, serving the region’s medical and healthcare sector.

About MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND

Established   since   2003,   MEDICAL   FAIR   THAILAND   continues   to   grow from   strength  to strength as  Southeast  Asia’s   leading  trade  fair   for   the medical and healthcare industry. University Medical Center Utrecht opens new CT-Street to enhance and accelerate patient diagnosis

Radiologists get information with spectral CT, supporting them to provide improved patient care

University Medical Center Utrecht (UMC Utrecht) in the Netherlands officially opened its new ‘CT-Street’ – a suite of state-of-the-art spectral CT scanners from Philips that speed up CT scans while at the same time enhancing image quality and detail. UMC Utrecht is the first medical center in the world to be equipped with two of these advanced Philips imaging solutions.

UMC Utrecht’s purchase of these new scanners is in line with its policy of using high quality imaging to provide patients with more targeted treatment. The Philips Spectral CT scanners, which incorporate a dual-layer spectral detector that differentiates between high energy and low energy X-ray photons to provide spectral images, enhance UMC Utrecht’s diagnostic capabilities so that its medical teams can quickly provide a reliable diagnosis and an effective treatment plan for the patient. In addition, the patient does not have to spend as long in the scanner, because the scans are completed within seconds.

“With the help of spectral information, a diagnosis can be made more often in one go. For example, a blood clot can be found more easily, the blood flow in organs can be deduced, and information can also be obtained about the tissue composition of a possible tumor,” said Professor Pim de Jong, Medical Department Head of Radiology at UMC Utrecht. “In principle, a lot of additional information can be obtained about the general condition of a patient, such as bone density and muscle quality. Finally, we want to investigate whether this method is also more sustainable, for example, in terms of using less contrast agent.”

Spectral CT 7500 Scanner unveil at UMC

The Philips CT systems will be used for complex imaging of many different internal organs, as well as for cancer imaging and image-guided treatment. The system helps to reduce the number of repeat and follow-up scans.

In addition to using the company’s CT systems, UMC Utrecht and Philips have worked together in the fields of radiology and radiotherapy for many years to develop new techniques and innovations, including in MR imaging, with the aim of enhancing patient outcomes and patient and staff experiences, and reducing the cost of care.

“For many years, we have been focusing on image guided therapy at UMC Utrecht”, said Anouk Vermeer, board member at the hospital. “We have spearheaded the development of minimally invasive treatments. About twenty-five years ago, our colleague Jan Lagendijk, professor of clinical physics, devised the MR-Linac, which provides a more accurate form of radiation treatment because the doctors can better see where the tumor is. Together with the business community, including Philips, this idea has been further developed and many new applications have been added.”

“Together with UMC Utrecht, we are continuously working to improve patient care,” said Henk Valk, CEO at Philips Benelux. “We not only provide the latest and most advanced technology, but also work together on the development of new treatment methods and technologies for diagnosis. UMC Utrecht is a world-leading academic center where together we conduct research that is at the core of global innovations in healthcare. I am very proud of the long-standing and successful cooperation we have with UMC Utrecht.”

How To Properly Clean And Sterilize A Room

How To Properly Clean And Sterilize A Room

It’s not uncommon to have allergies, especially if you live in a big city. This is because the air quality is so poor and there are more allergens floating around. If you do have allergies, then you know how important it is to keep your room clean and free of allergens. Luckily, this is not difficult to do at all! Here are some helpful tips on how to do just that.

1) Use Cleaning And Sterilization Products

First of all, you need to use products that are specifically meant to clean and sterilize your room. Using household cleaning supplies, like soap and water isn’t enough because they just aren’t strong enough to cut through the allergens in your room. There are several solutions, as seen at www.leadsonics.com, including different varieties of ultrasonic cleaners. Cleaners will help you clean all your surfaces and sterilize them to make sure they are germ-free.

2) Clean Your Curtains

This is essential because curtains are prime locations for all kinds of allergens to get stuck to them somewhere on their surface. Therefore, you should either try cleaning them or replacing them with new ones that do not collect dust and allergens as easily.

3) Clean Your Blinds

Blinds are just as important to clean as the rest of the things in your room because they collect dust, paint particles, and other small particles that can easily be brought into your bed or sofa. You should either wash them with soap and water or, if they are wooden, use a wood polish.

4) Clean Your Flooring And Carpets

You need to make sure you clean your floors and carpets as well. This is because they tend to be the most polluted surfaces in any room, especially a bedroom where people tend to spend a lot of time. Cleaning them is efficient if you do it with a steam mop because this will kill all the germs without having to use any harsh chemicals.

5) Clean Your Pillows And Bedding

Yes, all of them and not just the pillowcases. You should put your pillows in a bag and wash them to make sure there are no allergens or dust left on them. It is especially important if you suffer from allergies to use dust-proof pillowcases that also protect your pillows from dirt and dust.

6) Clean Your Mattress

This can be quite difficult because mattresses tend to collect all kinds of dirt and dust in the form of dead skin cells and even mites and other bugs!  However, there is a simple trick you can use to make your mattress squeaky-clean. First of all, vacuum the surface of your mattress with a machine that doesn’t get too close to the surface because this may damage it. Then, disinfect it with a spray you can buy at any drugstore.

7) Use Air Purifiers

These are especially useful because they have several settings, such as “allergy-free” or “organic”, that help to keep the air in your room clean and disinfected. They can be particularly beneficial if you suffer from allergies, but they should always be used with proper ventilation to avoid humidity problems! When using an air purifier, make sure to keep it at least 3 feet away from the wall and use a metal mesh between it and the wall because this will prevent corrosion.

8) Open The Windows At Least Once A Day

Finally, don’t forget to open your windows! Even if you use the above-mentioned methods as often as possible, you need to open your windows daily! This will help circulate the air in your room and make sure that there is no bad or stuffy air left, which can be dangerous for allergen-sensitive people. Breathing fresh air is essential for your health, so make sure you do it often!

It is vital that you clean and sterilizes your room to keep yourself healthy. This is especially important if you have allergies. You should start with the most polluted surfaces in any room, such as floors and carpets, which tend to be more difficult than other types of furniture or household items. Don’t forget to clean your mattress, pillows, curtains, and blinds as well. You can use different cleaning products to clean all of these! You can also use air purifiers for an extra layer of protection!  And it would help if you open your windows every day so that fresh air circulates through your bedroom at least once a day. This will ensure that there are no bad smells or stagnant odors lingering around. Follow these tips and you will have a clean and sterile room in no time!

Top Dental Care Tips From The Pros To Have Healthy Teeth

Top Dental Care Tips From The Pros To Have Healthy Teeth

What’s the single most important thing you can do to protect your teeth and gums for life? It’s not brushing and flossing every day. What really matters is what you eat and drink, because how often you brush depends on how much sugar or acid there is in your mouth. No matter how clean your teeth are when they emerge from under the gum line at the end of a good scrubbing session with toothpaste, they need protection against bacteria that lurk in our mouths all day long. Here are the top 7 dental tips to maintain healthy teeth!

1.  Cut Down On Sugar

Tooth decay starts with germs that feed on sugar. You can’t prevent it all, but you can cut back on the number of sugars, syrups, and other high-carbohydrate foods you eat. To learn more about foods that harm your teeth, contact a professional and do a thorough online research. The bacteria in your mouth turn the sugars into dental-eroding acids which attack tooth enamel just like battery acid.

2.  Cut Down On Acidic Foods and Drinks

The most common dietary source of acids is soft drinks, but fruit juices and wine can also be a problem. The sugar in these drinks doesn’t do any damage on its own – it’s the acid that does all the tooth-decaying work. You may not realize how much you toss back during the course of a day – soft drinks, fruit drinks, and sports beverages are part of a huge market. And if you eat or drink processed foods that have been made with citric or other acids, watch out – they can do just as much damage to your enamel as lemons.

3.  Brushing

Great, so you’ve cut down on the sugar and acid in your life… But if you don’t brush twice a day with toothpaste to remove food particles, bacteria stay trapped in the crevices of your teeth. When they reproduce they also produce acids that attack the enamel. Not to mention that food stuck in teeth can contribute to tartar buildup! You may not realize it but brushing is only 50% effective at removing plaque. Here are some brushing tips:

– Brush morning and night before going to bed

– Brush all surfaces evenly

– Use an up-and-down motion

– Clean outside surface of upper teeth by moving the brush back and forth

– Clean inside surfaces of lower teeth by moving the brush in a circular motion

4. Flossing

And don’t forget to floss once a day! Flossing is also 50% effective at removing plaque. It gets all that food out from between your teeth, where brushing misses it. Here are some flossing tips:

– Grasp a strand of dental floss longer than you need

– Wind the floss around each tooth from top to bottom one time only

– Hold the floss tightly against each tooth without pressing too hard on your gums

– Gently saw the floss up and down several times in a row

5.  Opt For Organic Food When Possible

Your dental health is related not only to what you eat but how it’s processed too. The more food is processed, the more nutrients it loses – along with its vital enzymes which give life and energy! Watch out for chemical additives in processed foods, which can be cancer-causing. And of course, avoid trans fats and hydrogenated oils that clog arteries just like in your heart!

6.  Keep Fluoride In Your Toothpaste

When brushing is not enough to get out plaque, a specialist treatment called a fluoride varnish may be necessary from time to time. A fluoride treatment coats newly erupted teeth from top to bottom with fluoride, giving them added protection against acid attacks from acids produced by the bacteria that live in all our mouths! Fluoride treatments usually take place early in the morning, before you eat or drink anything. And if your dentist prescribes it for your teeth, use fluoride toothpaste as directed to help keep your smile healthy too.

7.  Be Ready For Emergencies

It’s easy to take care of dental health… But what happens when there’s a problem? This is why you need an up-to-date list of phone numbers for all the dentists in your area. Keep them on speed dial so that way they’re always available to assist if needed. If you can’t get hold of any professionals at night or on weekends, go directly to the emergency room location near you. They’ll be able to provide temporary relief until you can see a dentist during office hours!

So many people neglect their teeth. But it’s important to be proactive about dental care because it can save you a lot of money in the long run! Start taking care of your mouth today, and enjoy healthy teeth for life!

The educational requirements for becoming a medical assistant vary depending on the state in which you live. Suppose you want to be a certified medical assistant or take your certification exams through AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants). In that case, you will need to gain training at an accredited school that offers either a Medical Assistant Associate’s degree or a Medical Assistant diploma. In most states, you will be required to have the appropriate amount of hours in your training program that meets state regulations to become certified and take the certification exams. Certification is voluntary but is an excellent way for a medical assistant to gain a competitive edge in this job market by possibly receiving higher pay and finding a job more efficiently. Medical assisting is such a hot career at the moment with so many opportunities; there is no need for you not to try and get certified if you want to be one. An average medical assistant salary is usually in the range of $25,000 – $35,000 per year.

There are numerous job outlooks for medical assistants. If you meet your state’s requirements and complete the necessary training, you will likely not have any problem finding a job in this field, especially with so many Baby Boomers now seeking help at their doctors’ offices due to age. It’s projected that over half of all U.S. medical assistants are eligible to retire in the next ten years. This massive gap in the medical assistant industry will create even more opportunities for those to fill these positions that open up. Learn About State Requirements

Every state has different requirements for taking the certification exams and becoming a medical assistant. You will need to check with your State Department of Health or State Board of Medical Assistants to find out what you will need to do to become certified. After checking with them, if they require you to take some training program, you will want to make sure you select a good school that prepares you well in your field. You don’t want to go through all the trouble of getting certified only to have it not help you obtain a job because they did not prepare you very well for what type of work would be expected from a medical assistant.

One way that many people get the proper training is by going to a vocational school. Vocational schools are great because they can provide you with the necessary classes and hands-on experience to get certified. They offer flexible hours that many people need in their work schedules.

If your state does allow you to become certified by just taking an exam, then be sure that the school you attend offers the exam for your condition. Taking an exam without getting properly accredited could get your certification revoked if you are caught doing so because it is cheating, and that is something that no one wants to happen to them.

Remember, there are many different options available in becoming a medical assistant. If choosing this career path interests you, check out some schools and find one that will help you reach your medical assistant goals.

Consider National Certification Through the AAMA

Another option is to become nationally certified through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). This will offer you a significantly higher level of employment if you are willing to put forth the extra time and effort required. Many people can tell when someone is not nationally certified but may not know when they are if they are. This is why it’s essential to become nationally certified if you can.

If you are interested in becoming nationally certified, the AAMA offers an online training program that you should look into before signing up for any other type of training program. The fee for this course is $375 and includes all the materials you will need to take the exam.
