The operator of three Hudson Valley hospitals has announced a $466 million plan to build a new inpatient building in the city of Poughkeepsie.
Health Quest announced Thursday that it will build a seven-level, nearly 700,000-square-foot building at its flagship Vassar Brothers Medical Center. The structure will have 264 private rooms for patients and another 30 critical care rooms.
The new building will be located on the Vassar Brothers campus adjacent to Route 9. It will also include an emergency department with 66 treatment rooms, operating rooms and a rooftop helipad.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2016, pending approvals from the state Department of Health.
Health Quest also operates Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck and Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel.
