March 1st News :– Logica has successfully delivered a new healthcare IT system to support the UK military and NATO personnel being treated in the Camp Bastion hospital in Afghanistan.

The first phase of the important Whole Hospital Information Systems project was delivered within four months of the contract being awarded. Logica already works closely in partnership with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in delivering its Primary Healthcare systems; the contract for this Secondary Healthcare system for the Military Treatment Facility in Camp Bastion was awarded to Logica and System C in September 2010.

System C has tailored its Medway patient administration and electronic patient record software (PAS/EPR) to meet the particular needs of the MoD. The bespoke solution supplies specialist applications such as bed management, clinical support tools, emergency department, intensive care, order communications, reporting, and patient administration.

The system has been implemented with pre-deployment training programmes and support for operational medics and nurses both in the UK and in Afghanistan.
