Medical equipment manufacturer, Quantum Medical Imaging has completed an installation of two single – detector DR systems at Sports Medicine North in Peabody, Massachusetts. The sale and installation was facilitated by Associated X-Ray Imaging, a Quantum "Gold Star" Dealer in the Boston area.

Sports Medicine North Orthopaedic Surgery, Inc. prides itself on providing patients with a unique opportunity to receive all of their specialized orthopedic care under one roof" said Janice Brandl, Practice Administrator for Sports Medicine North. The two very busy x-ray rooms at Sports Medicine North service over 100 patients every day. The new systems are operated by three seasoned technologists who have worked with film for many years. "We are all ecstatic with our new equipment, the speed and image quality has made our jobs more efficient with less repeats and much shorter wait times for the patients and the physicians added Carol Scotina, RT-R.

The Sports Medicine North installations included two articulating Q-Rad-PQ system integrated with Canon's CXDI-40G panel with a ceiling mounted tube suspension and mobile table, as well as one DR upgrade of an existing Radiographic room with a single CXDI-50G portable panel shared between the table and wall stand. The articulation of the PQ system with the 40G and the portability of the 50G allows the detector to be placed around the patient versus positioning the patient around the detector, which is critical when imaging pre/post-surgical orthopedic injuries and prostheses sometimes complicated by a patient's limited mobility. This provides quick and easy imaging which enhances the facilities patient care and patient throughput.
