Effective Hacks To Help You Drive Safely On The Road

Effective Hacks To Help You Drive Safely On The Road

Driving a car is one of the most important things you can do in your life. It’s an essential life skill, and if you don’t know how to drive, it can be really hard to get around. But driving isn’t as simple as turning on the ignition and going- there are plenty of rules that govern what drivers should do at all times. Here are a few tips to stay safe on the road.

1) Maintain a Safe Following Distance

This is one of the most important things to do when driving. When you understand the importance of maintaining a safe following distance at all times you are able to keep your vehicle and its passengers safe, as well as the vehicle in front of you. You should never tailgate or try to pass another car for no reason- it’s not only dangerous but also illegal, so make sure you leave at least two seconds between your car and the one in front of you.

You should always be aware of your surroundings and try to anticipate what could happen next. Drivers cutting you off or swerving can be incredibly dangerous if you don’t see it coming, so make sure you keep an eye on the cars around you and watch out for anything that they

2) Follow the Law

Speeding, texting, and using your phone while driving can lead to serious accidents. If you’re not paying attention to traffic laws, then you’ll put yourself as well as other drivers at risk. Texting while driving is illegal, and using a phone while behind the wheel can get you a fine of more than $100. Texting while driving causes so many deaths each year, so avoid using your phone when driving.

If you have to make a phone call, pull over and concentrate on just that rather than trying to concentrate on your phone and the road.

3) Don’t Drive While Tired

Driving is tiring! If you’re not used to spending hours at a time behind the wheel, then it’s easy to get exhausted. So take regular breaks every hour or so. This can also help you avoid an accident since driving when you’re too tired is very dangerous! Drivers falling asleep behind the wheel cause about 100,000 accidents per year in the US.

Make sure that you look for rest stops and that you calculate them into your route. Another option is to have a co-pilot. Have someone take over when you are too tired to drive. Take turns so that the long drive is not as exhausting on both of you. Don’t think that drinking copious amounts of coffee will be enough to keep you going.

4) Don’t Drive While Intoxicated:

One of the biggest causes of accidents is people drinking too much and then getting behind the wheel. Studies have shown that drunk drivers are responsible for about 10,000 deaths each year in the US, so it’s really important not to drink or and drive. If you do want to drink, make sure you have a designated driver or organized taxi service. Roads are very dangerous when there’s any alcohol involved. Remember that driving after just two drinks is twice as likely to cause an accident than when no alcohol was involved. Also, do not drink when you are on strong medication. You might be able to drive perfectly safely after a drink, but when alcohol and medication are combined it can lead to drowsiness, or extreme intoxication very quickly.

Do not take drugs and drive. When you add in the effects of any drug you could lose a lot of concentration very quickly. This is a dangerous mixture and can put so many other people in danger.

5) Maintain your Vehicle Regularly

You’re more likely to have an accident if you don’t take care of your car properly. Check for fluid levels each time before starting out on a long trip- brake fluid needs changing every two years or so, while coolant should be replaced every 5-6 years. Keeping your car clean makes it easier for you to spot any possible problems, and if you keep up on regular maintenance, it should last much longer without having to be replaced (and that means saving money in the long run). Also, make sure that your tires are properly inflated and brakes work correctly before getting on the road.

Driving can be challenging, but it is important to stay alert and follow traffic laws. Doing so will help you avoid accidents or other dangerous incidents that could lead to serious consequences. For example, texting while driving can get you a $100 fine in some places (or more). You should also make sure your car is maintained regularly with regular breaks taken every hour or so. When it comes down to it, the most important thing is to drive responsibly.

Cherokee Health Systems Partners with Noteworth to Boost Provider-patient Engagement, Value-based Care

Health Symptoms That You Shouldn't Ignore

Noteworth, a virtual care delivery platform that uses remote patient monitoring, artificial intelligence and powerful data analysis tools to improve patient outcomes, announced its partnership with Cherokee Health Systems (CHS). CHS is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) based in Tennessee that serves 75,000 patients annually in its 23 facilities and will utilize Noteworth’s digital health services to accelerate proactive interventions, boost clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction, and reduce care costs.

“Access to care for many patients of the U.S. population remains a challenge, especially in rural areas which makes the adoption of innovative digital health solutions so critical for FQHC’s like Cherokee,” said CHS’ Chief Information Officer Andy Rhea. “We are thrilled to partner with Noteworth and implement their platform to help us continue on our value-based care journey to deliver the best care possible.”

Cherokee Health Systems plans to deploy Noteworth’s full suite of products to help it address disease, finesse its telehealth delivery, and expand its digital front door. Leaders expect significant return on investment from the affordable platform, including new reimbursement streams, expanded care access, patient engagement and brand differentiation.

Noteworth is the first end-to-end digital health platform serving the entire ambulatory care journey, known for improving patient outcomes and reducing costs. Unlike other incongruent solutions, Noteworth offers a turnkey approach to digital health including:

  • Telemedicine and care coordination, including pediatric and adult medicine programs.
  • Condition management, including diabetes and transitional care.
  • Remote patient monitoring, for rising-risk, high-risk, chronically ill and other patients.
  • Patient engagement, such as education and wellness programs.
  • Home health, including aging-in place, hospice, and home infusion solutions; and
  • Behavioral health programs, including solutions for ADHD, anxiety, and depression management.

Noteworth, which can be used as a standalone solution or integrated with an existing EMR, reduces the administrative burden on caregivers by streamlining their workflows. Noteworth’s all-encompassing solution is designed to help providers in both fee-for-service and value-based care organizations simplify patient assessments, records, and other administrative tasks. This keeps clinicians centered on one platform and saves them time.

“Virtual care is the future of healthcare, and our delivery platform encompasses all the digital solutions health systems need to do their job effectively, one that focuses on patient care and scalability,” said Raymie McFarland, Head of Sales, Noteworth. “Studies show that effective digital healthcare solutions help providers and patients save money. It also helps providers deliver their best possible care, which is critical as the industry transitions from volume to value.”

“Although health systems are seeing more in-person visits, digital healthcare platforms remain essential because they expand access, improve outcomes and enhance the patient experience,” said CHS’ Chief Operating Officer Suzanne Bailey, M.D. “We welcome Noteworth’s help in decreasing the administrative burden on our clinicians, enabling our providers to put 100 percent of their focus on patients.”

As the largest health center in the state, implementing innovative ways to improve the care system and reach new patients remains an institutional priority at Cherokee Health Systems. The health center provides primary care, behavioral health services, pharmacy, and dental services to patients across 23 clinics. Through virtual care, patients, especially chronically ill populations, who cannot make it to the doctor’s office are a just few clicks away from a visit, and nurses have more time to see admitted patients.

“At Cherokee, we aim to meet patients where they are. As virtual health gains momentum, it’s becoming a core component in helping patients improve or maintain their well-being,” said CHS’ Chief Clinical Officer Parinda Khatri, M.D. “We strive to remain on the cutting-edge side of technology and adapt new ways to provide high-quality health services to patients across the state.”

Noteworth’s digital health solutions will also help CHS on cost savings up-front and in the long-run as the healthcare industry transitions from fee-for-service to value-based care models, opening CHS up to new reimbursement streams.

Essence SmartCare to Showcase Advanced Connected Health Solutions at MEDICA 2021

Essence SmartCare to Showcase Advanced Connected Health Solutions at MEDICA 2021

Essence SmartCare announced it will showcase two advanced IoT-based health and safety products at the upcoming MEDICA Forum, demonstrating the company’s leadership in comprehensive remote patient monitoring (RPM) and advanced fall detection.

VitalOn is a breakthrough platform in the telehealth market unifying telecare, wellness and remote patient monitoring capabilities into a single, continuously connected platform. The award-winning solution is always on, providing continuous monitoring and chronic conditions management for a wide range of healthcare needs, both in the home and on-the-go. It continually monitors health factors and vital signs, alerting caregivers or clinicians in cases of abnormal activity. Its superb user experience addresses a range of aging-related issues and chronic conditions – including diabetes, hypertension and congestive heart failure – without having to rely on smartphone or tablet apps.

MDsense is the first multi-dimensional fall detection solution for elderly and vulnerable populations. Unlike alternative solutions, which rely on wearable devices and panic buttons, the system utilizes advanced algorithms to immediately detect a fallen individual. The non-wearable, wireless, battery-powered solution provides round-the-clock monitoring and enables caregivers to respond to events faster by eliminating the risk of missed falls or false alerts. Key features include an immediate alarm, automatic real-time person recognition, and the ability to differentiate between humans and pets. Employing wall-mounted smart sensors rather than video cameras, the system works even in total darkness while ensuring total privacy. MDsense is part of the company’s Care@Home platform that allows seniors to live independent and safe lives in their homes.

“Essence remains committed to increasing the efficiency of advanced health and care services, providing people with peace of mind by enabling them to live healthier and happier lives,” said Barak Katz, General Manager for Essence SmartCare. “The VitalOn and MDsense solutions demonstrate our leadership in remote care by introducing medical grade innovations that help our users to remain free and independent, safe in the knowledge that their health and welfare needs are taken care of.”

“We are continually working to update and optimize our technology offerings, so that they address the evolving needs of our users,” said Dr. Haim Amir, CEO and Founder of Essence Group. “Both VitalOn and MDsense exemplify this, and our larger mission to harness cutting-edge technology to introduce solutions that demonstrably improve people’s lives.”

Demonstrations of Essence SmartCare’s range of connected homecare solutions will be conducted in Hall 12, Booth A26 at MEDICA from November 15-18, in Dusseldorf.

Sydney LHD extends use of Miya Precision remote patient monitoring platform

How touchless patient monitoring is defining future of healthcare landscape

The Sydney Local Health District will continue using a remote patient monitoring platform by ASX-listed healthcare IT company Alcidion after extending their contract.

In July last year, Alcidion signed an initial 12-month contract with the LHD to deploy its Miya Precision system to support the virtual care delivery of Sydney’s RPA Virtual Hospital (rpavirtual) for COVID-19 patients in home isolation.

With around 12,000 staff, Sydney LHD is serving over 700,000 people across central and inner-west Sydney. It oversees five hospitals, including the Royal Prince Alfred and Concord Hospitals, and a range of in-hospital and community-based support services.

Miya Precision has been supporting the virtual hospital’s doctors with a clinical monitoring dashboard that consolidates information, supporting their delivery of remote patient care. The platform is also helping to reduce hospitalisations and improve recovery outcomes.

The expanded implementation, according to a press statement, will use Miya Precision to remotely monitor the conditions of patients with acute diverticulitis. It will include bi-directional integration with Sydney LHD’s Cerner EMR.

Moreover, both organisations will collaborate to deploy the Miya Care mobile patient app, which will allow rpavirtual to actively monitor care progress and enhance its engagement with patients. The app will integrate data from patient monitoring devices and patient wearable technology.

In September, healthcare IT firms Royal Philips and Teladoc Health announced their partnership to offer virtual care solutions in Australia and New Zealand. Combining their virtual care offerings, the companies will deliver to hospitals and health systems a scalable end-to-end virtual care service that allows them to conduct remote patient monitoring across health facilities with limited clinical resources.

Meanwhile, the University of South Australia has recently developed an AI-enabled platform to remotely monitor the vital signs of premature babies and detect their faces while lying in hospital beds.

“We are very excited to build on our initial implementation of Miya Precision with Sydney [LHD] through this project that highlights the flexibility and scalability of our platform as a key enabler of new and innovative models of care,” said Alcidion Managing Director Kate Quirke.

“The opportunity to extend our technology to provide improved information and communication options for the patient in the home will significantly improve the patient experience and contribute to better outcomes,” she added.

Northwell, Aegis Ventures team up on AI enterprise to address healthcare quality and cost

Northwell Health New York’s largest health care provider, and Aegis Ventures, a New York-based startup studio,  announced they are forming a joint venture (JV) that will ideate, launch, and scale AI-driven companies to address health care’s most challenging quality, equity, and cost problems. The JV will assemble leading medical, technology, and business resources to create a first-of-its-kind company creation platform for health care innovation. Aegis Ventures intends to invest at least $100 million of seed-stage funds through the platform to catalyze a significant multiple of that amount from the venture capital and investment community.

The JV will work with stakeholders across the Northwell system to create new patient care solutions through collaboration with frontline clinicians, working side-by-side from ideation to implementation, to develop innovations that use AI to predict, diagnose, and manage health conditions.

The parties have already started work on solutions related to improving maternal health outcomes and chronic disease prediction. Alongside this disease focus, the JV will use AI to identify and eliminate operational inefficiencies in health care delivery. All technologies and tools will be identified, developed, and validated within the secure Northwell Health environment to maximize data integrity and privacy. Ultimately, the aim of the JV will be to accelerate the speed with which new lifesaving AI solutions reach the patient’s bedside.

“New York was at the epicenter of the COVID-19 crisis, and today’s announcement places it at the epicenter of innovation that will tackle health care’s most pressing problems,” said Michael Dowling, president and CEO of Northwell Health. “This joint venture will leverage data from Northwell’s patient population, one of the most diverse in the world, along with Northwell’s intellectual capital in AI technology. Working together, Northwell and Aegis will create companies that bring higher quality, lower-cost health care to those who need it most.”

Northwell has a track record of success in AI research, including the development of a landmark algorithm that predicts patients’ overnight stability to reduce the need to wake them for vital sign checks. Developed using 26 million measurements from 2.3 million patient visits, the algorithm helps reduce nighttime disturbances to speed patients’ recovery and discharge. In addition, Northwell serves one of the most diverse patient populations in the United States. Caring for more than 2 million people annually across 23 hospitals and hundreds of other facilities provides the health system’s clinicians and researchers with a unique vantage point into the health and wellbeing of traditionally underserved communities. This perspective will be a key aspect of the Northwell-Aegis JV, which will prioritize innovation to reduce racial and socioeconomic biases that drive health inequities and have impaired existing AI solutions.
Complementary AI goals

“Aegis’ experience in commercialization and Northwell’s experience in clinical care complement each other perfectly,” said Aegis Ventures Chairman Bill Schoenfeld. “Our joint platform will bring together the medical, technological, and investment talent to launch new companies that address healthcare’s most pressing challenges.”

In addition to linking clinicians, researchers, patients, and other health care stakeholders, the Northwell-Aegis JV platform team will include exceptional entrepreneurs, data scientists, engineers, and industry leaders with the commercial acumen needed to bring these innovations to the patient’s bedside. From day one, the JV will prioritize the needs of patients and clinicians, and develop best practices in ideation, research, and company creation to significantly accelerate the pace of AI development and adoption. This represents a new, more targeted approach to the way in which venture capitalists and health care systems can work together to solve major health care challenges.

“Our mission is to catalyze a new Moore’s Law in healthcare where, as we continually improve access, we continually reduce cost,” said Tom Manning, Chairman of the Northwell-Aegis JV and former Chairman & CEO of Dun & Bradstreet, the leading global provider of corporate information and data analytics. “This new effort promises to transform the model for innovation in health care and improve outcomes for everyone, but particularly for people who may be lost in the shuffle and most need our help.”

Through the launch of the JV, Northwell and Aegis are committed to building an exceptional team that will embrace this unique opportunity to create impact. Learn more about the JV or register your interest in joining the team that will further these unique opportunities.
