5 Tips For Digestive And Gut Health According To Experts

5 Tips For Digestive And Gut Health According To Experts

One of the most important parts of your body is your digestive and gut health. It is, after all, the part that’s responsible for processing what you eat. Food is what gives the body nutrition, so if your gut health is poor, then you can also run the risk of poor digestion and distribution of your body’s essential nutrients.

When you closely examine the digestive system, it’s more than just the tract per se. For the transport and breaking down of food to process effectively, there are also thousands of microorganisms living in the digestive tract, responsible for keeping it healthy. While some of the bacteria may be bad, there are those that are beneficial to keep the digestive and gut health strong enough, for a healthy body.

To understand better about the connection of your digestive health to the rest of your body, and what you can do to keep it healthy and strong, Ameolife’s article also gives you some of the most important data and information for you to know.

With that said, if your aim is to have an overall healthy body, it’s important to take good care of your digestive and gut health. These are some tips that would help you keep your digestive and gut health in good shape:

  1. Reduce Your Stress Level

Stress is one of the topmost common reasons why so many people may suffer from bad health. The downside to stress is that it doesn’t just eat up your mental and emotional health per se, but it also does have adverse effects on your body in general.

When it comes to your gut health, it can suffer when you start to either feed it with unhealthy food regularly as a part of your stress eating habits or skip eating altogether. This may not manifest into effects right away at the present, but in the long run, these effects will surely start to kick in.

If you’ve been suffering from so much stress lately, here are some tips to help you lower or reduce your stress levels:

  • Eat and drink healthy food and beverages;
  • Stop smoking;
  • Practice any relaxation techniques;
  • Give yourself some ‘me time’, once in a while.
  1. Focus On Eating Real Food

Real food means feeding your gut with dishes that you actually whip up, and not just processed food. While processed food may be convenient, remember that it’s exactly as its name implies: processed.

There are only very few nutrients left in it, and it’s also filled with chemicals to preserve it for longer. So, imagine what you’re feeding your body. Your gut digestive and gut health will eventually have its fair share of that junk and have enough of it.

Eating healthy doesn’t have to be expensive. It’s as simple as going back to basics, taking the time to meal prep and cook, and ensure that every nutrient that goes into your meal is healthy.

  1. Get Enough Sleep

Your body needs to sleep, for it to replenish and regenerate all of its energy and functions. The same applies as well to your gut health. So, if you haven’t been sleeping well and good enough lately, then you should also make it a point to start sleeping well.

Take note that for every single system of your body to function well, it needs at least seven to eight hours of sleep at night. Be sure that you’re able to give your body that, no matter how busy or stressed out you may think you are.

  1. Eat A Lot Of Fiber

Filling your daily diet with fiber is good for digestion. This absorbs water and bulks up your stool, which means you’re able to release more of your body’s waste. Think of fiber as a giant toothbrush, with the bristles brushing every side of the tract, to keep everything moving as smoothly as possible.

Good sources of fiber that you can incorporate into your diet include oat bran, whole grains, legumes, and vegetables.

A significant number of individuals fail to meet their daily fiber requirements, highlighting the importance of incorporating supplements into their routine. In this context, Colonbroom emerges as a highly recommended choice due to its ability to provide the necessary fiber intake that might otherwise be lacking from regular diet alone. By opting for Colonbroom, individuals can effectively bridge the fiber gap and support their overall digestive health and well-being.

  1. Eat Slowly

No matter how much of a rush you’re in, eat slowly and make sure that you chew your food properly. Chewing is an inherent part of eating, and this is so that it’s easier for your food to travel through the digestive tract. If your food isn’t chewed into smaller pieces, then you’re putting your digestive tract into so much more work than it should typically have to do.

When you chew your food slowly, you’re also able to promote full absorption of your nutrients, and digestion of all your meals. This makes it easier for you to maintain a healthy gut and reduce any discomfort in your digestive system.

Conclusion

When your digestive system starts to suffer, this would manifest itself in so many ways. Think, diarrhea, heartburn, upset stomach, and constipation, among all the other health issues and discomforts that it’s going to bring. So, as you aim to take good care of your health, don’t neglect your digestive and gut health as well. Start with the tips above, and make it a part of your daily habit, and practice towards living an overall healthier lifestyle.

Visiting the Dentist during Covid

Visiting the Dentist during Covid

The onset and spread of COVID have precipitated drastic sweeping changes everywhere.  What was once ordinary and commonplace seems to now be the opposite. Measures taken to stop or slow the spread of the disease have had to be far-reaching and all-encompassing. As a result, run-of-the-mill habits like trips to the store, office hours, and doctors’ visits have been adversely impacted.

It seems like one of the most impacted obligations is trips to the dentist’s office. The need for heightened safety has exposed the risk inherent in exposing and opening the mouth for examination. Contrary to those aversions, dentists offices remain safe to visit. For a good reason, ignoring oral health and hygiene can be a greater risk to overall health.

If you are anxious about making an appointment to see your dentist, here are a few guidelines you can follow to certify that you remain safe throughout.

For Non-Emergencies

First and foremost, non-emergencies are not an excuse to avoid making an appointment. Dentists have emphasised that there is an inherent risk in failing to maintain a good dental routine. Such oversight can allow seemingly benign conditions to deteriorate, leading to other, more severe health conditions.

Regarding the virus: it remains a significant concern, even now. The virus continues to infect and affect people nationally and globally, with no end in sight yet. Putting off scheduling appointments for a dental concern can leave it untreated indefinitely. It can also prevent the early detection of a potential problem.

Furthermore, the change of diets has increased the need for more advanced dental care. The spread of the virus has made it necessary to stay at home due to government-mandated lockdowns. More time spent within such confines has altered eating habits. There has been an uptick in consuming sugary drinks and less healthy food options, which can adversely affect dental health, no matter how much brushing is relied upon to counteract it.

In Case of Emergencies

It is inadvisable to attempt to ignore an emergency in favour of minimising exposure. If a need to see the dentist becomes imperative, make your way to one as quickly as possible. Dental emergencies can escalate and transform into general health complications if they are not seen promptly. Signs that you should seek urgent dental care include:

Severe pain.
Swelling on the jaw, cheeks or gums.
Mouth ulcers that have not healed after two weeks.
One or more broken teeth.
A tooth that was knocked out.

For added safety, many dentists’ practices have implemented protocols to align with mandated safety guidelines. Before making an appointment, please note that they now:

  • Ask patients to attend their appointments unaccompanied. If need be, only one companion is allowed.
  • Have fewer appointments available each day to minimise the number of people in the office at any given time.
  • Have spaced out the chairs in the waiting rooms to maintain appropriate distancing.
  • Request that patients stand at the reception in a certain way to avoid compromising safety.
  • Require masks to be worn at all times, except during the examination.
  • Use examination rooms in rotation to allow the aerosols to settle before a patient is ushered in.
  • Ensure that dentists wear face shields and special masks.

Your oral health does not have to take a back seat until authorities announce the all-clear. Rest assured that your dentist is making every effort to certify that you remain safe throughout your next visit and every appointment to make after that. Keeping up with your dental care will give you a definite advantage when masks are no longer required, and your smile can shine once again. Need a recommendation? Phase one is for logistics teams like porters and cleaners and phase two expands this to clinical support teams, including allied health professionals. Through the Award, Navenio will develop a proven and nationally scalable evidence-base to help support improved patient flow across the NHS.

For patients, Navenio helps deliver a better care experience by removing the distraction of logistics from frontline clinical teams, alongside faster response times and higher quality cleaning practice, ensuring safer movements of the vulnerable between departments, and quicker turnaround overall – reducing patient stay times and getting people home sooner.

Tim Weil, CEO and Co-Founder at Navenio, commented: “The Navenio team is both honoured and delighted to receive the AI in Health and Care Award. The funding will help us accelerate being able to support more teams and patients across the NHS, as we look to build on the positive impact that our technology has provided, particularly during the pandemic. Beacon Health System Enhances How Patients Find and Schedule Care with Kyruus Digital Platform

T-Mobile and Zyter Partner to Deliver Virtual Healthcare Access to More Americans

Kyruus, the leader in provider search and scheduling solutions for health systems, announced that Beacon Health System, a leading non-profit health system serving northern Indiana and southern Michigan, has launched a new digital patient access experience through the Kyruus ProviderMatch® platform. The health system is now making it easier for both new and existing patients to search for care system-wide online, as well as self-schedule appointments with a growing number of providers.

After building its new enterprise-wide provider directory with Kyruus for its more than 1,100 providers – practicing at the system’s seven hospitals, medical group, and dozens of other care locations – Beacon implemented ProviderMatch for Consumers to give consumers a more dynamic online search experience with richer insight into providers’ backgrounds and areas of expertise. The health system has seen rapid adoption of the solution among its communities; search volumes in ProviderMatch have doubled since launch last year to more than 15,000 searches per month.

Late last year, Beacon subsequently began a phased rollout of online scheduling through ProviderMatch DirectBook – Kyruus’ award-winning consumer scheduling solution. Through a direct integration with the health system’s underlying EHR platform, Beacon is able to both display providers’ appointment availability and enable consumers to book seamlessly within ProviderMatch. Consumers are already scheduling hundreds of appointments per month with the initial group of providers offering online booking – spanning primary care and a growing number of specialties – and about 50% of these appointments are for new patient visits.

“In revamping our digital access offerings, our primary goal was to make it as straightforward and convenient as possible for consumers to find and book appointments with the right providers for their needs,” said Diane Maas, Chief Strategy & Digital Growth Officer at Beacon Health System. “ProviderMatch makes it simple to search, learn about, and schedule with our providers and we are excited to continue expanding the capabilities we offer through it.”

Beacon’s commitment to broadening online scheduling opportunities extends beyond provider appointments. This year, the health system is partnering with Kyruus to make additional services, such as annual screening mammograms, available for convenient online scheduling through its website and mobile apps as well.

“We’re honored to serve as a partner in Beacon’s initiatives to empower the growing share of consumers who prefer to research providers on their own with the digital tools they need to find the right matches,” said Scott Andrews, General Manager, Health Systems at Kyruus. “We’re glad to be helping the Beacon team continue expanding the range of appointments and services accessible to consumers online and eligible for self-service booking.”
