Healthcare navigation platform Transcarent has launched a bundled payment model for cancer therapies, targeting bispecific T-cell engager (BiTE) and CAR T treatments. The model is designed to connect members with leading oncology providers across academic medical centers and high-quality community-based cancer care sites, while giving employers greater predictability around oncology costs. Transcarent said the approach is a first-of-its-kind model and expands its Centers of Excellence (COE) program by making advanced cancer treatment more accessible and easier to navigate. The company said the model is intended to improve access to care while helping employers manage the financial challenges associated with advanced cancer therapies.

The bundled payment model supports members through treatment across the COE network, with certified oncology nurse navigators providing assistance throughout the care journey. Transcarent said the model offers potential savings of up to $150,000 and is intended to provide access to more affordable care. โ€œAdvanced cancer therapies are changing whatโ€™s possible for patients, but theyโ€™re also creating new challenges for employers trying to manage costs and access,โ€ said Snezana Mahon, Transcarent’s president, in a statement. โ€œThis model gives employers more predictable costs while helping Members receive expert care closer to home without sacrificing quality.โ€ Members undergoing treatment through the COE network are supported throughout their journey by certified oncology nurse navigators, providing an added layer of assistance as they receive care through the network. The model therefore combines the payment approach with care navigation and access to oncology providers across different care settings.

The companyโ€™s Cancer Care Advisory Board Chair Karen Knudsen, Ph.D., said expanding access to advanced therapies in โ€œhigh-quality community settings is a critical step towards more equitable cancer care.โ€ โ€œThis model can reduce barriers to treatment while improving the experience for people and their families facing some of the most complex cancers,โ€ Knudsen said. The launch follows Transcarentโ€™s January expansion of its WayFinding platform with new agentic AI capabilities, including voice AI scheduling and advanced symptom-checking. The companyโ€™s latest cancer-care initiative adds another component to its existing navigation offering, while continuing its focus on connecting members with care and supporting them through their treatment journey.
