Amedisys, Inc. announced the acquisition of De Queen Home Health Agency.  The acquisition is expected to expand the company’s coverage to all, or part, of eight new counties in Arkansas.  The company currently serves 32 counties in the state, including the eight from the acquisition.  De Queen’s annualized revenue is $2.9 million, although it is not expected to ad materially to the company’s earnings in 2010. 

Amedisys, Inc. (Amedisys) is a provider of home health services to the chronic, co-morbid, aging American population. The services that the Company provides include both home health and hospice services with approximately 87% of its revenue derived from Medicare. As of December 31, 2008, Amedisys owned and operated 480 Medicare-certified home health agencies, 48 Medicare-certified hospice agencies and managed the operations of four Medicare-certified home health and two Medicare-certified hospice agencies in 37 states within the United States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Its home health patient is Medicare eligible, approximately years old and takes approximately 12 different medications on a daily basis and has multiple co-morbidities. For the Company’s home health patients, it receives a 60-day, episodic-based payment from Medicare.
