talks about advancements in healthcare ICT in the Middle East.

Summary: Director General, Executive Board at the Health Ministers Council for GCC States, Prof. Tawfik Khoja in a recent interview with Fleming Gulf, mentioned that the Middle East health sector is well prepared to apply the most advanced technologies and telemedicine solutions to provide best medical care to the citizens. Prof. Khoja will be speaking at the 5th Annual Middle East Healthcare Expansion Summit on 10-11 Oct in Abu Dhabi.
 
“The medicine revolution which will be witnessed in the next few years will not be a revolution of newly discovered medicines or treatments but it will be a revolution in the use of information, electronic networks and technical solutions for provision of health care based on the needs of the customers. These services will adopt quality, trust and accuracy as its main criteria.”, he said.
Prof. Khoja also talked about the activities and contribution of the Executive Board in revolutionising healthcare IT. “The Executive Board at all times works with the member states towards availing all cases of learning of health information technology and its application due to the positive impact it has on all aspects, leading to improving medical care services quality and assisting in decision-taking.
 
 The use of the best program technologies and the available connectivity means to strengthen the role of health information centers linkage in the member states with their counterpart center in the Executive Board. In this regard, The Executive Board is keen to strengthen health information system in reach of the outstanding and reliable performance required by the office and the members in the Cooperation Council States.
He highlighted the key concerns for the Middle East healthcare industry as security of pharmaceutical supply, proper professional development in all areas of health care and in e-health in particular, and patient safety within public health care institutions and private sectors.
However, he believes the future looks promising. “The industry is on the path of achieving its targeted objectives aiming at improving quality of care, meeting consumer expectation and satisfaction. Institutions are exerting all possible means to put patients first and to make sure that health care provision is moving towards proper implementation of the concept “Patient-Centred Health Care” and “Health of the Nation”., he signs off.
Prof. Khoja will be participating at the 5th Annual Middle East Healthcare Expansion Summit on 10-11 October at Hotel Park Rotana, Abu Dhabi, where he will talk about e-health and healthcare in the GCC. His presentation will throw light on the healthcare paradigm and healthcare delivery by e-health tools, successful experiences in GCC, the effect of telemedicine on service quality in healthcare and future developments
