Kairos Consulting Worldwide today announced it hired Melba T. Moore to lead its healthcare practice, directing its healthcare consultants as the Chicago-based firm expands its presence in healthcare process improvement. Moore, 51, led efforts to develop a continuous improvement infrastructure for a large healthcare system in her role at Orion Advisory, where she served as a director in the healthcare sector. Orion, based in Charlotte, NC, was founded by General Electric alumni to focus on business performance transformation. Its clients include The Cleveland Clinic, JP Morgan Chase and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Kairos healthcare practice is growing exponentially as organizations prepare for the impact of the Affordable Care Act. The healthcare industry is working to build capacity, reduce preventable errors and streamline operations through cross-functional process integration,รขโ‚ฌย said Lynn Sutton, Kairos Worldwide managing principal. Melba Moore shares our focus on applying engineering principles to achieve long-term, sustainable process improvements and we look forward to expanding our efforts in the healthcare sector with her leadership. In her work with Orion, Moore led teams that implemented solutions to reduce MRI cancellations by 50 percent and reduced wait times for cancer patients from two hours to 30 minutes. รขโ‚ฌล“Many Chicago hospitals have made new capital investments in their facilities,ย Moore noted. These investments, along with the changes in healthcare legislation, make it the right time to support all the great hospitals in the area with their process improvement and patient experience initiatives.รขโ‚ฌย Moore received an MBA from Northeastern University and a BBA from Howard University. After graduate school, Moore joined the Corporate Audit Staff at the General Electric Company. While leading efficiency teams at GE, Moore learned the value of collaboration in healthcare engagements and developed a sophisticated methodology to engage employees throughout project life cycles. Moore’s professional experience includes positions with General Electric Medical Systems, American Express, and the Government of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Kairos Worldwide has provided process improvement and cross-functional system management services to healthcare organizations including the American Hospital Association/HRET, Abbott Laboratories and the University of Chicago Hospitals.
