With the idea of enhancing and elevating medical tourism across Malaysia, the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council- MHTC has made an announcement that four hospitals have been shortlisted when it comes to its flagship medical tourism hospital programme.

The likes of Island Hospital, the National Heart Institute, also known as Institut Jantung Negara, Mahkota Medical Centre, as well as Subang Jaya Medical Centre have been included in the programme, which will go on to help the Malaysian healthcare industry when it comes to achieving its objective of providing the best Malaysia healthcare travel experience by 2025.

It is well to be noted that all these hospitals were chosen through data analysis as well as on-site evaluations.

Apparently, the finalists will be progressing towards the next phase of the programme, known as the acceleration period, under which there is going to be a continuous evaluation of growth and development when it comes to establishing best practises as well as benchmarks in service and medical excellence with an international brand over a period of three years.

Interestingly, the Malaysia travel and healthcare sector had 1.06 million European tourists as well as 1.22 million healthcare travellers visiting in 2019.
