New England Cancer Specialists welcomes the public into its new facility in West Kennebunk on Thursday, Nov. 5, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Guests are invited to see how state-of-the-art cancer treatment is combined with compassionate care at this striking new facility, which opened its doors in June.
During the Open House, physicians, business leaders, patients, members of the community and the media can tour the new facility and learn more about New England Cancer Specialists, one of the first medical oncology practices in the country – and the first in Maine – to be certified by the Commission on Cancer as an Oncology Medical Home.
"We're proud to be recognized for our compassion, expertise, multidisciplinary coordination, and efficient, cost-effective care," said Dr. Tracy F. Weisberg, president of New England Cancer Specialists. "A cancer diagnosis is not only physically demanding and medically complex, but can also be emotionally and financially draining for the patient and family. As a medical home, we help navigate our patients through every aspect of the fight."
New England Cancer Specialists offers a level of care, compassion and research that is unparalleled in the region. The independent, physician-owned practice seeks out the most advanced cancer treatments and participates in more clinical trials than anywhere else in Maine.
"We provide patients with an oncology medical home that is closer to home, and an alternative to treatment in a hospital setting," said Dr. Weisberg. "Our one goal is their best outcome."
Following a ribbon cutting at 4:00 p.m., guests are invited to tour the facility, enjoy hors d'oeuvres, and talk with the doctors and staff. The facility provides exam and treatment rooms as well as an onsite laboratory, pharmacy, and a range of support services, including financial advocates.
