How To Deal With Legal Matters After Youve Suffered A Car Crash

How To Deal With Legal Matters After Youve Suffered A Car Crash

A car crash can be a life-changing event. It can leave you with physical injuries that require long-term medical care. It can also lead to emotional and psychological trauma, which can take years to heal. And if you are involved in a severe car crash, you may have to deal with the legal ramifications as well. The expected procedures that you can expect soon are tied to the insurance companies, court, etc. Learning about the potential outcomes and options you might have available is extremely important. It would help if you approached it as a preventive measure to keep you from feeling overwhelmed down the road.

Finding a good attorney

If you’ve been involved in a car accident, it’s important to find aย  lawyer who can help you through the legal process. A good MN car accident attorney will be able to guide you through the legal process and help you get the compensation you deserve for your injuries. An experienced car accident attorney is familiar with the laws in your state and will be able to help you file a claim for damages.

When choosing a car accident lawyer, it’s important to consider the lawyer’s experience and track record. Ask the lawyer how many car accident cases they have handled and what kind of results they have achieved for their clients. It’s also important to find out how much the lawyer will charge for their services. Most lawyers work on a contingency basis, which means they will only collect a fee if they are successful in obtaining a settlement or verdict on your behalf.

The legal process

After you’ve been involved in a car accident, it’s important to understand the legal process and what to expect. Typically, the first step is to file a claim with the insurance company. Your car accident lawyer will help you gather the necessary evidence and documentation to support your claim. The insurance company will then investigate your claim and may offer a settlement. If you don’t agree with the settlement offer, your lawyer can negotiate with the insurance company on your behalf. If a settlement can’t be reached, your lawyer will file a lawsuit and take the case to trial.

The types of damages you can recover

There are several different types of damages that you may be able to recover if you’ve been involved in a car accident. These include compensatory damages, which are intended to compensate you for your losses, and punitive damages, which are awarded as a punishment to the person who caused the accident. Your car accident lawyer will be able to advise you of the types of damages you may be able to recover in your case.

In addition to the damages you can recover from the other driver, you may also be able to recover money from your own insurance company. Most insurance policies include coverage for accidents that occur while you are driving. Your car accident lawyer will be able to help you file a claim with your insurance company and get the money you deserve.

Medical expenses

One of the most common types of damages that people seek compensation for after a car accident is medical expenses. If you’ve been injured in a car accident, you may be entitled to reimbursement for the cost of your medical treatment. This includes the cost of hospitalization, surgery, medication, and physical therapy. Your car accident lawyer will be able to help you file a claim for medical expenses and get the money you deserve. It is extremely important to make sure you have all the reports and the course of treatment, as well as medical bills and receipts, to back up your injury.

Lost wages

If you’ve been injured in a car accident and have to miss work while you’re recovering, you may be able to receive compensation for lost wages. Your lawyer will be able to help you file a claim for lost wages to get reimbursed for the wages you’ve lost as a result of your injury.

Pain and suffering

If you’ve been injured in a car accident, you may be entitled to compensation for the pain and suffering you have endured. This is one of the most difficult types of damages to quantify, but your lawyer will be able to help you seek the maximum amount of compensation possible. By finding an expert to assess your case and testify as to the value of your pain and suffering, you may be able to recover a larger settlement.

The legal process can be daunting, but it’s important to remember that you don’t have to go through it alone. A car accident lawyer can help you every step of the way and make sure you receive the compensation you deserve.

ASCO and Johnson & Johnson Join Hands to Make Optometry More Diverse

ASCO and Johnson & Johnson Join Hands to Make Optometry More Diverse

Johnson & Johnson and ASCO (or Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry) have come together to address the rising need for diversity in optometry. The announcement of the collaboration happened during New Orleansโ€™ SECO 2022.

According to Kelly Nichols, ASCO President, this is the biggest sponsorship program in the companyโ€™s history.ย

The rising private practice optometry substantiates the growing need for the initiatives by ASCO. Seeking advice on setting up a new optometry unit is possible via the numerous service providers who help make the setup process seamless and easy. However, availing proper education for handling a diverse population is possible only by such initiatives by ASCO.

Their Shared Goal

Nichols highlights the association’s goal to educate future optometrists, who represent the population they will have to cater to. This sponsorship will help have efficient resource allocation to meet the various goals of the โ€œEye on Diversity initiative.โ€

According to her, โ€œWithout greater diversity in schools and colleges of optometry, the profession will be hard-pressed to achieve substantial change.โ€ The North American President of Johnson & Johnson Vision, Thomas Swinnen, states that this partnership will support the companyโ€™s initiatives that work towards an inclusive and equitable future.

The Plan Ahead

This partnership will help address the various challenges that optometric education faces to include a diversified student pool today. They will help meet the following goals:

  • Create awareness among aspiring students and their parents or career advisors about the highly valued optometric carrier.ย ย
  • Facilitate support, resources, and encouragement for educators to build an organizational culture that supports the diversified student base. Its specific aim is to support the educational establishment working with optometry.
  • Supporting the training of the culturally competent student sets to facilitate the diversified populations.ย

The New Initiative

In the associationโ€™s continued effort to help increase diversity in optometry, it launched โ€œOptometry Gives Me Life.โ€ It is one of the largest public awareness campaigns in this space. The campaign wants to:

  • Tackle the decreasing diversity of optometry applicants,
  • Increase the awareness of optometry as a career choice among college students, and
  • Target the students studying in STEM fields.

According to Nichols, โ€œThis campaign aims to diversify the profile of the optometry profession, with a diverse and qualified applicant pool that is competitive with other health professions for our nationโ€™s best and brightest students from all backgrounds.โ€ย

About ASCO

The concept of multiculturalism and diversity are strong principles to which ASCO and its members relate. The goals of this organization are:

  • Developing a student community
  • Developing an applicant pool
  • Sustaining an association of professionals and faculty who relate with the same principles
  • Repairing the future optometric technicians to support a global society and multi-culture

Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry or ASCO encourages and embraces diversity via its founding principles that state:

  • Diversity can be an essential tool for the optometric profession and education,
  • Subscribing to the philosophy of diversity is the appropriate thing to do, and
  • Choosing to embrace diversity can help the entire ecosystem consisting of students, faculty, and optometry practicing professionals to increase the scope of the field. It will help prepare the students to support the increasingly diverse communities in the future.

The Past

The June 2008 document by the ASCO board of directors put forth the ASCO Guidelines for Culturally Competent Eye and Vision Care. This document enlists the best practices from the various components of the optometry school system. The association’s members can refer to this document to increase their cultural competence in optometry.ย

ASCOโ€™s โ€œCultural Competence Curriculum Training Workshopโ€ in 2009 had a specific goal to train the Chief Academic Officers. This workshop helped design and refine the plans for integrating cultural competency in optometry coursework.

The emphasis program of ASCO in 2010 put forth a guideline for implementing the curriculum at the institutional level. Clinical setting was also a part of the module with cultural competency training. The program helped ASCO members prepare for the effective delivery of culturally competent healthcare in an increasingly diverse society.ย

In 2012, ASCOโ€™s subcommittee rolled out an on-site โ€œCultural Competency Guidelines Implementation Workshop.โ€ The on-campus workshops’ design helped cater to the institution-specific needs for ASCO guidelines implementation. The workshops had a variety of exercises, including knowledge and skill-based ones providing an additional understanding of the subject.

All in all, ASCOโ€™s natives help improve the Vision Care and Culturally Competent Eye Healthcare. Although numerous projects are in operation of ASCO, more challenges still lie ahead of it to overcome.

WHO And Kuaishou Technology Make COVID-19 Data Available

WHO And Kuaishou Technology Make COVID-19 Data Available

To counter COVID-19 propaganda and provide mental health advice on how to cope with the pandemic’s impacts, WHO is working with Kuaishou Technology, a Chinese firm that controls the social media platforms SnackVideo and Kwai. Resources are available in Bahasa Indonesia, Portuguese, and Spanish, so people who are at risk can reach out to them in their own language.

With more than 4 billion users across the globe, social media has changed the way people consume information. By using social media in their native languages, WHO can reach a large number of vulnerable individuals with essential health information.

For example, in August 2021, WHO and SnackVideo started a social media campaign in Indonesia to slow down the expanse of COVID-19. The goal of the programme was to increase mental toughness in the community by using open messages. The message included recommendations on how to protect oneself and one’s family from COVID-19, as well as psychiatric advice on coping with the outbreak and its consequences in daily life. The hashtag #BersamaHinggaUsai was used by users to create over 24 thousand films, which received above 30 millions of viewers on the platform.

Later that year, Kwai and WHO developed a COVID-19 Fact Hub to help clear up prevalent COVID-19 myths, thereby reducing the transmission of health misinformation. The Fact Centre assists users in better understanding and identifying potentially harmful misconceptions, as well as linking them with community resources for vaccine scheduling and learning more about local rules and safety measures. The page has received over a hundred thousand views from South American countries and Indonesia. Liu Zhen, VP , Kuaishou Technology, which owns both Kwai and SnackVideo, says that they are ecstatic to be working with the WHO to offer patient data to short video community members in an entertaining and engaging way. This cooperation with the WHO is particularly meaningful to SnackVideo and Kwai because both applications provide a simple video and live-streaming experience for everybody, allowing them to express their individual styles, creativity, and sense of belonging.

They have observed increased interest and adoption from normal users, with higher than normal engagement rates across the board, after contacting not only the top producers on both platforms. Zhao adds that they are excited to see how effective and influential these campaigns will be. Andy Pattinson, WHO Team Lead of Digital Channels, says that they congratulate social media firms like Kuaishou Technology for encouraging their enormous online forums to take the required steps toward better health and well-being. He added that they need to keep reaching people with life-saving health awareness wherever they are, in their palms, and in languages they understand.

This partnership is part of WHO’s larger effort to work alongside technology firms to combat disinformation and ensure that people around the world have access to accurate COVID-19 health information and services.

GE Healthcare Developing a Digital Health Platform to Help Providers Accelerate Digital Transformation

GE Healthcare announced its intention to introduce Edison Digital Health Platform, a vendor-agnostic hosting and data aggregation platform with an integrated artificial intelligence (AI) engine. The platform is being developed to enable hospitals and healthcare systems to effectively deploy the clinical, workflow, analytics and AI tools which would support the improvement of care delivery, the promotion of high-efficiency operations, and the increase of revenue growth, while also supporting reduction in the IT burden that typically comes with installing and integrating apps across the enterprise.

Edison Digital Health Platform is designed to accelerate app integration by connecting devices and other data sources into an aggregated clinical data layer. A collection of data transformation services is expected to be available on the platform to support data analytic applications, and to enable the training and deployment of AI models using the aggregated data. Through open and published interfaces, healthcare providers and third-party developers are expected to be able to seamlessly deploy their applications, with the platform supporting integration of the apps into existing workflows. In addition, GE Healthcare intends to integrate and deploy its own apps such as Command Center โ€œtilesโ€ onto Edison Digital Health Platform.

โ€œEdison Digital Health Platform is being designed to enable healthcare systems to have a single platform on which to host and integrate apps into clinical workflows,โ€ said Amit Phadnis, Chief Digital Officer, GE Healthcare. โ€œWith easy access to the workflow, analytics, and clinical apps specific to care across the care continuum, clinicians will have actionable insights at their fingertips to help better serve their patients.โ€

With Edison Digital Health Platform, IT departments are intended to benefit from a one-time connection to multiple databases, such as the EMR, during the first integration, after which subsequent apps are expected to connect with less effort. With a vendor-agnostic platform, providers would be able to select best-in-class and preferred apps safely and securely, without the typical requirement of multiple individual integrations or being locked into a single vendor. In addition, the platform is being designed to scale across cloud, server, data center or on-device deployment. Leidos, a preferred premier systems integrator and GE Healthcare Strategic Alliance member, will collaborate with customers on seamless implementations and appropriate integrations.

โ€œWe look forward to working alongside GE Healthcare to address health systemsโ€™ technology challenges from the growing demand for app integration,โ€ said Liz Porter, president of Leidos Health Group. โ€œThe platform will help reduce digital friction across the enterprise and accelerate the deployment of digital solutions at scale. What are the most common minor car accident injuries?

What are the most common minor car accident injuries?

Car accidents are so common that it should not come as a surprise to anyone to be involved in one. Sadly, this also means that hundreds of people every day get hurt in all kinds of ways and even lose their lives in these collisions. Even if the car accident is minor, there is no escaping the possibility of suffering an injury. Read on to discover the most common injuries people sustain in minor car accidents.

Get a Physical Evaluation

Donโ€™t be misled into believing that since the accident was minor, there is no need to see a doctor as soon as possible after a car accident. Even if you feel fine, you may just be feeling the stress associated with the accident, and if the injuries are internal, there is no way for you to diagnose them on your own. Go to the URL here to learn more about the type of medical care you should receive after a car accident.

Injuries to Soft Tissue

Severe injuries are easy to see and very painful. Injuries to soft tissue may not only not be evident at first glance; they may take days or weeks to present themselves. That is why it is so important to get yourself checked out by a medical professional as soon as you can after the accident. Whiplash, for example, is a common injury that may not be noticeable right away. If you feel pain in your joints or muscles, tell your doctor. They will investigate the source and recommend treatment.

Chest Injuries

Even in accidents at lower speeds, your airbag may deploy, hitting you squarely in the chest. This may cause bruises and may also cause a broken rib. Your seatbelt may save your life but may also hurt you and restrict your movement. Even if the airbag does not inflate, the impact of the collision may forcefully throw you against the steering column. Your doctor may order X-rays to verify that you did not suffer any chest injuries during the crash.

Abrasions

Getting slammed up against the interior of your car or being hit by flying objects such as cell phones, purses, drinking cups, and other objects may cause painful scrapes, cuts, and bruises. While some of these minor injuries may do well with home care and patience, others may require stitches or even more extensive medical treatment. If your abrasions seem to last longer than you expected or are accompanied by pain or other symptoms, it may be a good idea to schedule an appointment with your doctor.

Injuries to Arms and Legs

From a broken finger or toe to a fractured bone in your arm or leg, any of these injuries are common, even in minor car accidents. The force of the collision may throw your body in unnatural positions, causing bones to break. If you carry passengers in the back seat, they may also have broken bones when thrown against the front seats’ back. Broken bones are painful and take time to heal. Waste no time in bringing the injured to a healthcare facility where they can get X-rays taken and their extremities placed in casts as needed. In some cases, surgery may be required to fix these broken bones.ย

Green Tea Detox Diet: What Experts Have To Say

Green Tea Detox Diet: What Experts Have To Say

Introduction

The rage of following a detox diet has been in hype for many years now.

Many people prefer it to lose weight, overcome exhaustion and flush toxins out of their bodies. However, not many people know green tea is an excellent detox agent.

I mean, some people turn to a green tea detox diet because it is easy to follow and does not require any major modification to your lifestyle/diet.

On the other hand, people also dismiss it as an ineffective and unsafe fad diet.

This is why we have taken a close look at what a green tea detox diet is and how it works so that people can make an informed decision about whether to follow it or not.

Green Tea Detox Diet-Overview

When you drink green tea, it flushes out the harmful toxins and chemicals from your body and boosts your energy levels.

Some people also say that adding a few servings of green tea to your diet can enhance immune function, clear up blemishes, and enhance fat burning.

If you want to follow a green tea detox diet, you must add 3-6 servings of it to your daily diet.

You donโ€™t need to reduce your calorie intake or avoid certain foods to follow this diet. However, a good exercise regimen and a nutritious diet are highly recommended in this context.

Adding 0.7-0.14 liters of green tea to your detox diet is the ideal count for an adult.

What Are The Benefits Of A Green Tea Detox Diet?

The effects of a green tea detox diet are well-known, which is why popular rehab centers like Gallus Detox also include it in their detoxification routine. You can visit here to know more about them.

Now, letโ€™s focus on the benefits of a green tea detox diet:

1: It Promotes Hydration

We primarily rely on water to keep our bodies hydrated. While water does a commendable job without a doubt, green tea also promotes hydration.

It consists mainly of water, and once you drink 24-48 ounces of green tea, you get enough fluid to supply to your body and let all of your organs function properly.

If your body is adequately hydrated, that would help it filter waste, promote nutrient absorption, help your brain function properly and regulate your bodyโ€™s temperature.

However, you should not rely only on green tea to supply fluids to your body, but you should pair it with plenty of other water sources, and only then can you enjoy its benefits full-well.

2: It Aids Weight Loss

Once you increase your fluid intake, your weight loss journey will be much easier to make.

A recent study revealed 173 women taking in more water had a greater weight loss without any perfect diet or exercise routine.

Another study found 23 adults consuming green tea extract were more inclined to burn more fat and boost weight loss than they could with exercise.

Green tea has a chemical called catechins that could support weight loss maintenance and reduce body weight, so many people prefer including it in their detox diet.

3: It Aids Disease Prevention

Green tea has an antioxidant called epigallocatechin-3-gallate that may block the growth of liver, lung, and prostate cancer cells and helps protect against chronic diseases.

It may also reduce blood sugar levels, which means a green tea detox diet can reduce your chances of developing diabetes.

A recent study shows that drinking 1 cup of green tea per day lowers the risk of developing heart disease or stroke. In addition, the study showed that people who drank 4 cups of green tea a day had a lesser chance of developing a heart attack.

What Are The Drawbacks Of A Green Tea Detox Diet?

Just because the green tea detox diet is highly beneficial doesnโ€™t mean it is free of downsides. In fact, there are people who donโ€™t drink green tea because it’s tasteless even though there are ways to sweeten green tea.

Now, letโ€™s look at the potential drawbacks of a green tea detox diet.

1: It Has High Caffeine Content

A single serving of green tea contains 35 mg of caffeine, which is potentially larger than other caffeinated beverages.

Caffeine is a stimulant that can cause stomach issues, anxiety, high blood pressure, and sleep disorders when eaten in large quantities.

It’s also addictive, and withdrawal symptoms like headaches, lethargy, focusing difficulties, and mood swings might occur.

If you take up to 400 mg of caffeine dose every day, it will be considered safe for most persons. However, some people may have more risk of developing terrible symptoms if they continue ingesting caffeine in this exact dose.

2: It Does Not Have A Balanced Nutrient Composition

Certain polyphenols in green tea, such as EGCG and tannins, can attach to micronutrients and prevent their absorption in the body.

Green tea, in particular, has been demonstrated to impair iron absorption, which could lead to iron insufficiency in some persons.

Although a cup of green tea now and then is unlikely to produce nutritional deficiencies in healthy persons, a green tea detox may not be recommended for those who have iron deficits.

However, you can still have it if you include it in your diet (in between meals). But, you must wait for an hour before you drink any other kinds of tea.

3: It Is Not Effective

Drinking green tea may benefit your health, but it is often considered ineffective for detoxification and weight loss.

Your body has an in-built detox system to clear out toxins and harmful compounds.

Even though it has ample benefits, if you keep on consuming it for weeks after weeks, it may show adverse impacts.

Researchers agree that a green tea detox diet may be considered helpful for short-term weight loss, but it cannot be sustainable for the long term.

Final Recommendation

People who drink 3-6 cups of green tea every day may notice a sudden boost in their weight loss journey, but their overall nutrient condition worsens from time to time.

It should be enjoyed as a part of a nutritious diet and not as the diet itself.

This is why experts recommend drinking only 1-2 cups of green tea every day. Even though you will get the results much later, your overall health quotient wonโ€™t be affected negatively.
